Deep Purple - Wien (Vienna), Austria - March 14th, 1973
====================================================================================

This is a recording mastered off analog cassette. I corrected the speed and did a bit of sound editing.

About the recording itself: For unknown reasons it's split in two parts, the first one (Highway Star to drum solo) with quite reasonable quality for a 1970's recording, the second one (drum solo to Black Night) with poor quality. The recording as a whole is circulating as a single CDR. However, after correcting the speed (which means: make it about 5% slower) it's 84 mins long and needs 2 CDRs if you want to burn it as audio CDR. The fade-out and fade-in in the drum solo isn't made by me, it's on the cassette (which I received from another trader in the early 1990's) as well.

The part with the better sound is also existing on a bootleg CD called "Atlantic Crossing" which was released in the 1990's. The sound is very similar to the cassette (with the same false speed), but I took the cassette for mastering because it's a bit longer and less faulty.

Music wise it's one of my favourite DP 1973 shows. I especially like Ritchie's solo in Mary Long - sadly there aren't many good quality recordings of that song existing from that time.

If someone wants some artwork - please create it yourself or scan the Web. I won't do because my artwork creating skills aren't the best, there are a lot of people around who can do it better.

Line up is Deep Purple Mark II consisting of:

Ritchie Blackmore - guitar
Ian Gillan - vocals, harp
Roger Glover - bass guitar
Jon Lord - organ
Ian Paice - drums

Track list is:

CD 1 (better quality)

1 - Highway Star
2 - Smoke On The Water
3 - Strange Kind Of Woman
4 - Mary Long
5 - Lazy w/drum solo, incomplete

CD 2 (poorer quality):

6 - drum solo (cont.) w/The Mule
7 - Space Truckin'
8 - Black Night

Lineage: cassette tape with unknown generation -> wave (with editing, see above) -> flac level 6.

Hope you'll enjoy the show !
