It was deemed not suitable for earthquake retrofitting and was closed about 10 years ago and is now slowly sinking into ruin. The auditorium, on the old campus on the army base, was built back during WWII and is a wooden ’shoebox’ type theatre, with the stage at one of the short ends. Though it looked like hell with a leaky roof and smelled musty, it had really great acoustics and was a fun place to see live concerts. I was fortunate to have recorded there a number of times. |
