Notes:

ProgDay alumni Mörglbl headlined the Saturday Night show.
In his intro, Christophe mentions that this was the third
time the band has played Local 506 - I think he meant the
third time they've played a ProgDay-related event. They
played the preshow at Local 506 in 2007 (the performance
that he jokingly says only three people attended - I was
there, there were more than three people in the audience
for this then-unknown band, although not a lot more), they
played the main event out at Storybook Farm in 2011, and
they played the Saturday Night show this year. In the
middle of all that they played NEARFest, so prog audiences
are pretty familiar with this metal/jazz fusion trio from
France. They played music from all across their catalog,
plus a couple covers, but focused largely on songs from
their new album Brütal Römance.

The recording came out well. I did a tiny bit of filtering
to remove a muffled, bass-heavy feel, but other than that
I just had to boost the volume levels a bit. I'm not sure
why the Friday night recordings at Local 506 came out
sounding so good, and the bands on Saturday sound like
they were playing in a cave, but this recording is still
very listenable.

About ProgDay:

ProgDay is an outdoor festival of progressive rock held
annually over Labor Day weekend every year since 1995.
The first year it was only one day (thus the singular "Day"
in the name), but in 1996 it was expanded to two days
and has been featuring eight or more of the best prog
bands from around the world every year since. There's
often a Friday night preshow and/or a Saturday night
show at a nearby nightclub so that a few more prog bands
can be showcased. It's definitely worth the trip if
you're a prog fan and don't mind a little sun and a
little driving around.

The main event takes place at beautiful Storybook Farm,
unless rain forces it indoors (which has fortunately only
happened a couple times in the festival's history). It's
a relaxed atmosphere, where you can listen and watch from
anywhere you want - if you really like a particular band
or want to get a better look at an instrument or performer,
you can go sit right in front of the stage or stand along
the side of the stage. Some people listen to the bands
while shopping for CDs and merchandise in the vendor tent
or getting food in the pavilion or playing games in the
field behind the audience.

The atmosphere is relaxed, the people are friendly, and
the band members often hang out all weekend taking in the
show, selling merchandise and chatting with fans when
they're not on stage. If you're a prog rock fan and can
possibly attend, make every effort to be there next year.
The festival runs on a very tight budget, so every ticket
sold really helps.
