note by LOSTBROOK:
My friends and I had an interest in all projects related to Genesis, as well as in jazz fusion music. This show fit the bill perfectly,
even though Phil Collins would not be appearing. Two months earlier, Brand X had released Moroccan Roll, a follow-up to their 1976 debut
album, Unorthodox Behavior. Their “American debut tour” brought them to My Father’s Place, our favorite Long Island club. We arrived
early enough to claim the front table, and proceeded backstage to mingle with the band. This was quite easy to do at MFP, and we were
rarely challenged. The members of Brand X were very friendly to us, and we discussed a wide range of topics, from music to the brand new
Star Wars sensation. The “Force” was with the band that night as they delivered a virtuoso performance inches from our table. We hardly
thought of Phil Collins as Kenwood Dennard dazzled us on drums. The show ends with us calling for “mor...rocc...an...roll.”
