| Tech Notes | LDB Special Series #89 Out of my 7,000+ shows and radio broadcasts, I have many concerts that were special for some reasons: the setlist, the musicians, the venue or unexpected events. These are the ones I'd like to propose you. Most of these come from my cassettes collection, so they will be released at a slower pace than my Master Series! But you won't be disappointed! I will try to gather the most unusual things I have in my collection and, as always, your feedback and comments will be my reward for all the work involved in this project. DO NOT share this music on mp3, just convert it for your own use. Sharing mp3's is the right way to make me stop sharing music here. U2 Hamburg, Fabrik November 3, 1981 01. Gloria 02. Twilight / Out of Control snippet Lineage: Unknown recording device > n generation copy > Aiwa Tape Deck AD-WX828 > Audigy Soundblaster > HD > SoundForge 7.0 > CD Wave >FLAC Frontend (level 6) Bono - vocals, guitar The Edge - guitar, piano, backing vocals Adam Clayton - bass Larry Mullen Jr. - drums A few weeks ago I downloaded this concert from here: http://u2torrents.com/torrents-details.php?id=3696. The description sounded very promising (The sound is so clear that this may well be a soundboard recording. There is absolutely no crowd noise between tracks also supports the soundboard theory.) but when I listened to it, it was not really equal to my expectations. So I had to browse for a long time to find my old cassette and when I listened back to it I realised that my version was really sticking to this description and sounded a lot more powerful and nice soundwise. So, why not, here it is a transfer from my tape which is really an upgrade from the previous seed. My tape isn't sourced from any CDR (when I traded this one in 1987 there ain't any boot CD!). This is not the complete show. Out of Control was played right after Twilight but the taper must have stopped his device before, that's why we do not have this last track available. This is the show where Bono stops the band during Gloria and had to start again 3 times during I Will Follow because some of the audience were not very happy with the music. I would be curious to hear what they are thinking today, when they were throwing objects onstage to one one the biggest rock act since the last 30 years. Not good music tastes for sure... Enjoy! ldb |
