OldNeumanntapr Notes-
This was the second time that I saw Bob, but only the first time that I had recorded him. The first Dylan concert I saw was in 1986 at the Paso Robles Mid-State Fair when he played with Tom Petty. I only had my Sony TC-153SD at the time and knew I could never get it past security, especially in the daylight. The Cal Poly Rec Center is a general admission venue, and it’s kind of a strange set up. The bleachers are on either side of the stage, at a 90 degree angle. There is a small section of open floor in front of the stage, with the soundboard in the rear. The building is not that deep, but really wide, with most of the seating on either side of the stage. I was approximately 8th row for this show, counting heads from the stage. I remember that there was three separate searches to get into the venue, and a friend of my friend Dave turned to me once we got inside and said, ‘Gee it’s too bad that you couldn’t get your tape recorder in through all that security.’ I just smiled and said, ‘Don’t worry about it. Everything is cool.’ I thought the show was good, though I didn’t know a lot of the songs. Bob’s repertoire is huge, and I’m not familiar with a lot of his material. Asleep At The Wheel opened, and I recorded them also. I hope everyone enjoys this one. My recording has been traded a few times and seeded once before on TTD.
