This is a mono recording. Since cassettes are stereo by default and there are many variables involved when recording,
the left and right channels of the tape are almost identical instead of exactly the same (fully identical would be true mono).
With lo-fi cassette recordings, one channel is usually louder and clearer. With this tape, it was the right channel that was
better. To restore the recording to true mono and improve overall fidelity, I discarded the left channel and made the right
channel into a stereo file when editing. This fixed the flawed stereo image, restored phase, and increased the overall signal-to-noise
ratio.; I can make CDR(1) copies of this one |
