Lady Bird d1t02. Four / d1t03. What's New? ------------------------------------------------------- Notes: - Two versions of this show were available. The first version was part of a torrent named "Miles Davis Broadcasts 1955-1959 - the rest" dl'ed in 2005. This show from that source is very heavily clipped probably due to careless EQ'ing/boosting. The clipping is severe, with 100-200 thousand clipped samples per track. The second version was recently obtained in a torrent called "Miles Davis - Paris - 1957, 1963". This second version looks like an attempt to fix the first bad version. It is very heavily NR'ed, with almost no frequency content above 5KHz, except for a few volume-triggered neatly stacked blocks. The heavy NR is much lossier than an mp3. After much agonizing, it was decided to simply run the first version through a declipping process. Samplitude 2496 V6.0 declipping seemed to work well. There are still problems with distortion and the badly-done heavy EQ'ing. One can only hope a better source surfaces! - Barney Wilen sits out on d1t02 and d1t03. - There is a interesting article available online regarding Miles Davis and his trip to Paris in the winter of 1957. See: "Mighty Miles and His French Band of 1957" http://www.iht.com/articles/2001/05/25/miles_ed2_.php - d1t03 is incomplete and cuts out suddenly. According to Peter Losin, a complete version circulates. - QC done by guygee md5 2fc0b2a4d4909867250055ca33fbb979 *md1957-12-xx.LL32.d1t01.flac 79457804c9fdc0da7e3e51aee61c9b9b *md1957-12-xx.LL32.d1t02.flac cbddbff6d5a97f1e39a2d6417093ed62 *md1957-12-xx.LL32.d1t03.flac ffp md1957-12-xx.LL32.d1t01.flac:41f30d67ef1f9739b574da574e5221a0 md1957-12-xx.LL32.d1t02.flac:30171512dd4885a961bed5968d029858 md1957-12-xx.LL32.d1t03.flac:e800c618e3aa4ac5d2c89737c91a92c8 st5 41f30d67ef1f9739b574da574e5221a0 [shntool] md1957-12-xx.LL32.d1t01.flac 30171512dd4885a961bed5968d029858 [shntool] md1957-12-xx.LL32.d1t02.flac e800c618e3aa4ac5d2c89737c91a92c8 [shntool] md1957-12-xx.LL32.d1t03.flac shntool length expanded size cdr WAVE problems filename 3:38.36 38539916 --- -- ---xx md1957-12-xx.LL32.d1t01.flac 3:16.17 34614428 --- -- ---xx md1957-12-xx.LL32.d1t02.flac 2:22.66 25204076 --- -- ---xx md1957-12-xx.LL32.d1t03.flac 9:17.44 98358420 B (totals for 3 files, 0.5687 overall compression ratio) spectral analysis from TLH md1957-12-xx.LL32.d1t01.wav: track looks like CDDA with probability 100% md1957-12-xx.LL32.d1t02.wav: track looks like CDDA with probability 100% md1957-12-xx.LL32.d1t03.wav: track looks like CDDA with probability 100% |
