first time Push Me, Pull Me was played in any form
Recording Notes:
Editing involved mostly consisted of the reduction of the loud claps throughout the show, making it much more enjoyable to listen.
Show Notes (thanks to Five Horizons):
An incredibly fast version of 'Hail Hail' with Stone commenting, "Good, God - that was fast!" 'In Hiding' finally returns to a setlist (yea!) and a 'Push Me Pull Me' improv for a 'Daughter' outro?! 'Mankind' finally surfaces (Stone's Australian singing debut, with PJ anyway). When the crowd cheers at the end, he cracks, "They love me ... they really love me!" At the end of 'Porch,' Ed reaches out to the pit and pulls a guy on stage. He lifts Ed up on his shoulders and spins him around and around. Ed proceeds to do the same to this fellow! Jack shines during his great drum solo at the end of 'Immortality.' At the end of 'Smile,' Ed gives his harmonica to former world champion surfer and local Sydney resident, Tom Carroll, who is watching at side stage. Ed says near show's end that they have to stop as he has to get up early to surf the next day. Some great guitar solos by Stone at this show.

DirecTV > ??? > Standalone > 3DVD > DV > Premiere > CCE > 2DVD
Assembled from the best available video recording. This was broadcast
live, with the sound out of sync. Plus, the best recording had cuts
between every song. This DVD is the product of hours of reassembling the
video to match the soundboard audio, as well as filling in the holes
with a source recorded on VHS tape.
Wash, the first 25 seconds of DTE, and all of the cuts between songs
have been patched with a VHS copy. The rest of the show is much higher
quality, and comparable to the clip of Hunger Strike, found on the
recent Live at the Garden release.
MFC was not broadcast. There are cuts in Daughter and the first few
seconds of Jeremy are missing. Otherwise complete and Proshot.

REVIEW
This was released as a boot CD, and is a decent one since they play the longer encore set
with "Road Runner" & "No Fun". The whole show is also on video. John starts off with
"Welcome to Paris" which makes it easy to peg if you only have a taped version of it.
Overall the gig is pretty enjoyable even though it is obvious that John is having some
trouble with his voice. You can hear him say, "I can't do it" after "Holidays",
apparently referring to "Submission" which was not played at this gig. These early gigs
on the tour at least seem to find the band in pretty good spirits all around.
DRAWBACKS
The biggest would be the distorted vocals and the fact that they drop 'Submission".
Other than that this is an OK gig. |
