09/30/83 Ahoy FLAC 0 NOTES FROM TAPER: the downside of this rec. is that, because of the complete use of the tapes in that time, i turned at the end of the tape. so now and then it was in the middle of a song. 5- art for arts sake + 11- dreadlock holliday arent here. 13-had a little skip; i repaired it as good as possible. the positive thing is that the quality of this recording is much better as the previous torrent, and that i'm not in love is complete + wont feel the benefit (14min!!!) is on this one......

04/16/74 Ford Auditorium FLAC 0 In the middle of the Story of Henry and Cynthia, someone shouts out “your mother eats shit, shut the fuck up”. Always quick witted and unflustered, Peter calmly assures the man that his mother does no such thing. Then, Phil suggests that the gentleman find the nearest bar if he wants to continue such behavior. To this point in their career, this was probably the most inappropriate audience behavior the band had ever faced.

08/21/82 JFK Stadium DVD 0 Notes on Deeside film by King Lerch: ------------------------------------ The Deeside film was filmed by Andy Banks. He filmed some Zeppelin too which was used (without credit or compensation) in the official Zeppelin DVD set. This Genesis film wasn't a great vantage point and typically the dark crowd covers the lower half of the screen. Also, it had an unfortunately (ask Chris) large number of cuts. Many clips were only a second or two. I had the film transferred (as always) frame by frame. This adjusts brightness based on each particular frame. This is important for dark concert footage since bright transfers wash out in some areas and dark transfers are, well...dark. The downside to this type of transfer is during times where only a small spotlight is on the stage. The camera iris opens to get more light and sometimes washes out the spotlit area. But the only way to get around that problem is to have different light settings for each scene. Sometimes possible, but there were just too many scenes in this one. Since this was a handheld film, I reduced some of the shakyness. I only did this a little (maybe 5-10 pixels) but it makes a surprising improvement. I also did a small amount of video noise reduction to reduce some of the film grain in the dark areas. The stage areas were virtually untouched. At this point I sent the film to Chris for audio syncing. The task of adding audio to this film was very tough due to the numerous quick clips and low number of Phil singing clips. Chris can give more info on this part of the process. After that I only buttoned it up and added titles. -kl

01/22/73 Old Refectory 0 I've downloaded many, many Led Zep recordings and have been surprised at just how few are decent sound quality, either because of strange soundboard mixes (where Page is often near inaudible) or mostly high generation copies. Well at last, IMHO this is the best recording I've found, with the exception of course of the great BBC Live Official 2CD set. The only ones that come close have been the thir13en remasters of Vancouver 1975 and Frankfurt 1980, with highly rated others like St Louis 1975 some way behind those. I'm not a completist, so I would welcome enthusiasts posting with similar or better SQ. There is also a thir13en remaster of this same concert, but that sounds a little thin compared to this version. My original source was remastered by CMI, with whom I'm not familiar to me but did a great job, except for over-enthusiastic compression that pumped up levels and made it difficult to separate instruments. I was able to undo some of this, along with other significant editing (above). Now it sounds truly great. Performance is top notch with a great set list including several golden oldies and for once you can hear Jimmy Page's guitar in all its true glory, making this for me the best Led Zeppelin recording ever..

As you can tell by the setlist, he gave it his all. Quality is superb and there was very little chatter in brackground. This is the one in 2009 you want to have.

02/20/72 Rainbow Theatre FLAC 0 Excellent work by splicing in the material missing from the famed "Best of Tour '72" by inserting another recorder for the three cuts, then adding the entire second set to make a complete recording. btw...this is definitely not a matrix, but a splice, with material simply edited in where missing, NOT mixed together.

07/04/77 Madison Square Garden 0 A very nice recording. The sound quality is excellent and it's a stereo recording. I'd give it an Ex- since there are some clap happy folks near the taper, but not to the point of distraction. The taper also bumps the mics a few times. Within 10 seconds the fireworks start! Did someone plan this? Do I detect the hand of David Gilmour in this? It's almost maddening thinking of it from Roger's perspective. The fireworks start again in the beginning of Dogs, then again in PoTW2. Roger lovingly calls this guy a "shitbag". The performance is electric! Dave's solo during Pigs 3DO is amazing! There are about a hundred highlights during this show in my opinion, but you'll have to check it out for yourself.

07/06/01 Unknown FLAC 0 A Time for some more 'vintage' masters. I have so many that I really don't know where to start from. This one I haven't listened to for a very long time. I remember I had a problem during the recording this show. Infact, the bloody MD machine got stuck after I changed to disk 2 and did not record anything after Roxanne. Luckily I could get a 1st gen copy of another source - still MD - and make a seamless complete recording. Both sources are clear. This was towards the end of the Brand New day tour which I also saw at the very beginning in Milano on January 2000. Before you ask me...I did not tape it. Actually I was supposed to, but my Sony Pro decided to die during that show. It was a pity because I had been taping with it since November 1991 (Tin machine show in Milano) with great results. This show in Milano was then my recording revenge. Open air show. I used some equalization to balance the channels and add some trebles where my original recording was a bit too bassy. Now it sounds very good to my ears. Enjoy!

12/01/89 Osaka Castle Hall 0 The show originally starts with 'Stand By Me' by John Lennon being played on the speakers. The band comes on stage while the song is playing and join in halfway through the song. The torrent version fades in at the point where the version by John Lennon can't be heard anymore to prevent any rule violation. >B.B. King appears on Tracks 5-7 of Disc 2. Bono gets pissed off at some over zealous members of the audience by saying, "If you can not live together in here, then you can not live together out there, let me tell ya". Bono introduces "Slow Dancing", as a song he wrote for Willie Nelson, by saying, "we've never played this song before, so..."< (from www.asmusu2.dk/flom/freedomofthespirits.htm) >This concert is often said to have somewhat of a "backwards setlist", due to the presence of songs normally played late in the set appearing in its early stages, such as Pride and New Year's Day, while the main set staple trio of Desire, All Along The Watchtower, and All I Want Is You is in the encore. Also noteworthy is the first performance of Slow Dancing in concert - nearly four years before its first official studio release! Bono had previously sung some of the song on Australian radio in October 1989.< (from www.u2gigs.com)
