Maida Vale Studios
London, UK
1 FLAC FM --> CDR --> EAC --> WAV --> FLAC 8 --> BBC Radio 2. "Back At The BEEB" bootleg. Info: David Bowie played an exclusive gig for less than 200 people in London - and filmed the show for his young daughter. The 55-year-old performed the special gig at the BBC's Maida Vale studios in west London, which was recorded for a Radio 2 special to be broadcast next month. He performed the track Bewlay Brothers - from his 1971 album Hunky Dory - live for the first time, but had to use lyric sheets to keep up, because, he said, "there are more words in this than War and Peace". Bowie used a hand-held camera to capture parts of the show for his two-year-old daughter Alexandria back home with his wife Iman in New York. "This is just to show my daughter exactly what sort of person I associate with," he said, focusing his lens on the fans. Of the 10 songs he played, most came from his recent Heathen album. But he also played Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill's Alabama Song - which was a single in 1980 - and Look Back in Anger from the Lodger album. He also played 1974 single Rebel Rebel, telling the audience: "This is one that I said I'd never play again - and true to my track record, here it comes." The concert will be broadcast on Radio 2 on 5 October. Cover art included. FLAC from ZOMB. [HD1]

Rally Monday, instituted in 2004, has grown into an annual event in Major League cities with playoff-bound teams. Each participating club, in conjunction with Major League Baseball, has prepared an entertainment slate that typically includes live music, playoff ticket giveaways, local vendors and celebrity appearances. The event also gives local and national business partners a chance to capitalize on the excitement of each club's advancement into the playoffs and engage fans in a celebration setting. 1 FLAC A+ FM > Pioneer VSX-D512 receiver > PHILIPS CDR 870 (standalone CD-recorder) Amazing! FM Radio. Perfect sound. A must-have! The most complete version! Seeder's notes: "THE POLICE: Amsterdam, Paradiso - 22 June 1979 - FM 2007 re-broadcast with additional tracks from 1990 broadcast **LDB Special Series #08**. The original torrent with the nice 2007 re-broadcast is here: http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=156991 I transferred two additional tracks from my first generation tape, then I worked quite a lot to set tracks in the right order as they were performed that night. Hope the transition between the two sources is not noticed. This is currently the longest available version of the Paradiso show as it lacks only the first encore (Landlord). I did not insert the DJ outro of the 2007 re-broadcast because I had to insert the last encore instaed. Enjoy!" [HD1]

You will hear a rumbling of bass a couple of times. This is not a malfunction, but an accurate representation of what was heard from my seats. If you have a sub-woofer on the system you play this on you may need to turn it way down. In hindsight I should have used the bass roll-off. I did tweak the sound a bit to try to brighten it and reduce the rumble. I probably wasn’t too successful on the latter issue as I didn’t want to sacrifice too much bass." Taper: V4TX. 1 SHN "Out of Reality" recording. A reviewer's comment. "This is the first full HYF show I obtained, and what a show it is. The setlist is the same as it was for the entire tour -- pretty much what you’d expect. But, it doesn’t have some of the "doctoring" that exists on the ASOH live album, which in my opinion makes it better to have. This sounds like a very small hall, giving the show a more intimate feeling. The highlights here are the versions of Lock and Key, Prime Mover, and an HYF-era Limelight. This is one of the best audience ROIOs I’ve yet heard, rivaling even Fresno ‘78 or Rotterdam ‘92 (if you have these, you’ll know how good that is). One could almost imagine that these songs could have been placed on the ASOH album without needing any extra polishing. The signal level is unusually high for an ROIO, so there’s no annoying hum. The EQ is slightly bass-heavy, but that may be a plus, depending on how you like your music to sound. All instruments are very clearly audible. This is the definitive HYF show." Cover art included. 1 FLAC A+ Amazing soundboard! FLAC from DIME. A 8/07 note posted by jamhead64 "long story short cause its all over the place.... got the tapes a few years back from a friend who was a doorman in NYC.... one of the people who lived in the building had a son who worked with VH early on in their career.... father had a bunch of his sons things at his place and gave the tapes to my friend. this friend put them in a box and put them away for years. one time when i was in town he pulled them out and passed them along to me saying something about them not sounding that good. not sure i agree with him at all on that, but he is not a fan of live recordings. anyways i transfered the tapes the best way i could at the time, hence the MD conversion. these are not soundboard, but were done by somebody who was traveling/working for van halen during that tour. recently borrowed a denon DRM-800 and may be doing new transfers of all the shows." Hopefully he will do them soon! Another note "the MD in the lineage makes it lossy so what you have here is a lossless duplication of a lossy source (ATRAC MiniDisc)"

Note: "There were two versions of this spread--an "unequalized" version and an "equalized" version. This copy, customized by me, came from the "equalized" version which, in my opinion, sounds better than the "unequalized" version." Another note: " This was a great show ! The reason for the confusion of date is ,the original show was cancelled and this was the make up date. They said Ozzy was sick ( yeah right) . this is the infamous "krell war" make -up date from a week earlier as documented on the sabbathlive website as well as DLR's own autobiography. Apparently A week earlier on the night b4 the nashville show DLR & Ozzy spent the night indulging in "recreational powdered party favors." Ozz stumbeld back into the wrong hotel room slept through the night and missed the show with sabbath in nashville who subsequently cancelled-though VH did play their opening set. The sabs played a make up matinee the following sunday which was also recorded btw and VH once again opened--this is the make up date. Lucky nashville fans got to see VH twice in one week for the price of one." FLAC from DIME. [HD1]

1 FLAC A- "Tora Tora Largo!" bootleg. Soundboard. "Sounboard quality, but has a slight hiss throughout. Overall it's an excellant recording. All insturments are well balanced. This is an incomplete show. It is missing the first 2 songs, "Romeo Delight" and "Bottom's Up" and the encore of "Everybody Wants Some" and "You Really Got Me". For some reason only half of "And the cradle will rock..." is on the disc. It fades in during the middle of the song. Includes a killer version of "Atomic Punk". Dave is trashed and at one point stops talking and says, "I'm so fucked up, I forgot what I was going to say". All in all one of the best 1980 shows from that tour! 2 CDR B+ This is a cdr copy. But I'm looking for the FLAC files of Lou's 1st gen tape. (Lou's FLAC Notes: Different transfer of the same first gen tape I torrented in 2004. I'm not sure what happened with that first transfer, but there were a handful of digital errors in it. This one is digital error free, done with a standalone and tracked with a standalone. The guitar solo is split into two tracks because there was a tape change on the a and the person marking the tracks had to pause the machine to change the tapes, and on a standalone, a pause automatically creates a new track. I didn't feel like changing anything whatsoever about this transfer, other than that the original CDRs I got had another band's show tacked on the end of it from the same tape. I didn't include those tracks. So there might be a couple of second of silence or something, but it's not a digital error, it's just how it was transferred on the standalone and I'm not changing it. This is a verified 1st generation copy, and one of the best quality 1982 recordings. The only thing better than this copy would be the master tape, which we'll never hear because the taper died a few years ago. Therefore please THROW OUT every other copy of this, including my 2004 torrent. Please THROW OUT your tapes unless you have a different source. Sorry about the confusion to the trading pool, but this is now the standard for this show, and there shouldn't be any more confusion. Thanks to M.P. for transferring his 1st gen tape. 2 FLAC A+ Uses Steecoe's source mainly. Amazing! A real treasure! A must-must have! "CharloTTomic Punks...Remastered" Remastering notes: "My buddy owns an independent recording studio here in Charlotte, where several local bands record. He started with Steecoe's incredible source tape, then patched in "You Really Got Me" from the complete (but inferior) source. Then he worked his audio wizardry on it. Specifically, he reduced the dominance of the bass drum a bit, and cleaned up the snare drum that was causing some high-end distortion. He then cleaned up the vocals some, and boosted Eddie's guitar and made it more prominent in the mix. The results are astounding." FLAC from DIME. [HD1]

1 FLAC B+ Unknown (most likely this origin: "The original recording was directly to compressed WMA format, so most of integrity of the audio recording was lost in the master recording.") Audio quality is good, not great.
