Video quality VG+. Audio quality VG / VG+. Taken from a 1st gen video source of a BetaMax Master->SVHS->Digital8 lineage. This is a phenomenal audience film from the 1984, especially so considering how little footage there is of that tour. The camera work is much better than on the 1982 film from the same location. The equiment is better and the zoom is much tighter than on that recording. The shot is very steady for the majority of the show and follows the band members around very well. It's amazing to see the full panoramic shots of the stage and how elaborate that set was. While the video is fantastic, the audio recording isn't the greatest, but it is the best it is going to get. The audio is mainly lacking in high end due to the camcorder equipment of that time. There is also some wicked bass distortion that crops up during "Everybody Wants Some". The show is presented complete with the only edits being during long breaks between songs towards the end of the show. You can hear the band and the crowd is relatively low in the mix with no distracting participants near the filmer. Overall this mono recording just lacks the fidelity to rate it any higher. The show itself is a great performance in front of a very, very enthusiastic crowd. Production specifics. The video was transfered from digital 8 tape via a Sony TRV-340 over firewire into a computer using Adobe Premier Pro. Video was then encoded with TMPGEnc at 8000kbps CBR with all settings to highest quality. Audio was digitally remastered in Adobe Audition and encoded as Dolby Digital 2.0 at 448kbps. The dvd was then authored using Sonic Scenarist. Released in August 2004.
