*Adventure at the end. The Witch with a capital B next to me ratted me out to the MPs for taping (then later asked for a copy, go figure), yet somehow i got out of it because they didn't know i really wasn't allowed to tape. They pulled me aside for 20 seconds and then allowed me back to my seat. Lucky for me these particular MPs were uninformed. The walk, conversation, and walk back are left on the tape because I didn't know what I should do with it. It's kind of amusing.

Dave Matthews Band : April 3rd, 1991 ?
@ Miller's [Bar] (Charlottesville, VA)
Single Disc; seamless...except that it's a comp. made from old tapes
a few random clicks during songs, but for a '91 tape it sounds pretty good
27 min., 274 MB
various comments :
*One of the earliest known recordings of the band. John D'Earth might sit in on Recently.
*A mix of various demos, live shows, and a practice from 1991. Poor sound quality, but a good show.
*Decent sound for an early recording. Has some pops and skips....

* This has a definate #36ish flavor to it in the beginning before it moves on to la-la land.
I am 0% sure of the date. 6/27/92 is simply what it was labeled as when it was sent to me.
All I know is that this is pure wholesome DMB jamming goodness which is very rare and quite enjoyable.
Please realize that the lineage of this show is unknown. Despite that, I figured the nature
of the played material made it worth its release.
At the end of track #4 Dave gives props to Oteil Burbridge on bass and Mike Durham(?) on guitar

I'm pretty sure this is a soundboard; there's really no pops/static or crowd noise
Full Band Acoustic: Carter has a hurt hand so he plays the bongos and other various
percussion instruments instead of drumset. No heavy drumming, but he sings a lot.

# the end of this song is cut off
This conversion was done as a request. It is a fairly rare show with no know
digital copies in existance, which is why I put the work into converting it.
The sound isn't fantastic, but the hiss is definitely tolerable.
To put this onto two 80 minute CDs, put tracks 1-3 from D2 onto the end of D1
and but D3 after D2 T4-9. But note, that D2 will be a little over 80 minutes so
you will need to over burn to get D2 to fit.

- I made one edit after transferring at 9:47 of Blue Water. There was a
short pop in the right channel. I simply cloned 20 samples from the left
channel to replace the "pop" samples. I generally don't make edits, but I
figured that less than 1/2000th of a second is hardly a big deal.

Note: I don't believe the tracking on this show is perfect. It moves
flawlessly from one track to another but it sounds as if, at some time
there might have been some editing done. Also the date of this
show is quite possibly wrong. Dave asks the crowd if the saw the
H.O.R.D.E. show that day. The H.O.R.D.E. did not have a show on the
23rd but did play at the Classic Amp. in Richmond on the 27th of July.
However this is what DMBTA lists as the date and I don't want to
confuse people by listing it as something else, especially when that
date is concieveably correct. I believe Allen Chen might have already
converted this show without the the intermission, but I never heard
that version so I'll leave that up to the host. Andrew

On October 15, 1994, Phish played at Oak Mountain Amphitheater - Pelham, AL. and had the Dave
Matthews Band opening the show. Earlier in the day, Dave Matthews played an acoustic gig at a record
store in Birmingham called the Magic Platter.Only a handful of people were there and a taper or two.
My copy of the gig is on analog, but I dumped it to my hard drive, burned wave files of it and transferred
it to shn. with a little help from a friend. I wish I had the mic info, but I don't. Sorry. If you have any
questions about this disc, feel free to email me at...
Mike Wallace <nola_funk@yahoo.com>
A special thanks to Jason Brown <jason_and_joy@yahoo.com> for doing the
Analog > CD-R transfer.

comments:
-------------------
About 1 minute into Tripping Billies, the right channel seems to die for about 45 seconds. I'm not sure
what happened, though I was told the dat was like this (which is logical). It sounds like the left channel
gain got turned by accident. I went ahead and mixed it up to stereo, but be aware that any kind of
artifact you might catch is from the mixing...
Also, the DMB Tour Archive seems to have an incorrect setlist. They have #36 and Tripping Billies
switched. I listened to the show repeatedly, and it's clear that the above setlist is correct.
