Bob Marley & The Wailers   07/18/1975

The Lyceum, London, England
Media CDR   1 disc
Notes A combination of the 17th and 18th Lyceum Ballroom shows comprises the "Live" album, released on Island Records in 1975 The shows proved to be as extraordinary as the build-up predicted. Bob Marley and The Wailers tore the Lyceum apart. The road crew had struggled to get good sound and power - a notorious problem at this venue, but articularly so in this case as the shows were being recorded for a possible live album - and their painstaking efforts were enhanced a thousand fold by the electrifying performance produced by Bob and his group. Quite simply, they were fantastic. Bob held the audience as though they were part of his collective soul. "From that gig," Dennis Morris recalls, "every person who was there decided they were a Rasta, and it snowballed. The whole movement just spread."
