Notes: via Pantagruel: "QUALITY WARNING! This is not a super-fine recording by today's standards. If sound quality is highly important to you, I suggest you stay away from this one. It was recorded from high in the QE Theatre's balcony. The audience is loud and there's lots of the venue's ambience in the recording. The vocals are distant and echoey. The bottom end is not super tight, though there is some nice low resonance there, for what it's worth. There are flaws. There's a cut in I Shot The Sheriff, result of a tape flip. There's some print-through audible during part of the recording. I hesitate to mention this, because for the most part it is fairly sublte. The reason for it is that the taper made the spontaneous decision to go to this show and try to record it about a half hour before show time. He didn't have a ticket, or a fresh tape. The print through was the result of something already on the tape which wasn't thoroughly erased by the new record process. It's audible for about five minutes or so from the very end of "I Shot The Sheriff" through the first part of "No Woman No Cry." I will post an mp3 sample so that people can make a decision if they want to download or not. Again, if it's a big issue, don't bother downloading. I for one am glad that the taper made the effort, and came away with this recording, whatever the flaws. If, on the other hand, you want one more rare glimpse into the spirit of Bob, then by all means, be my guest. On the plus side, the lineage is known; my cassette came directly from the master. Some aspects of the prominent audience ambience are pretty cool. The crowd reaction is ecstatic. You really get the flavour of what it was like to be in Bob's presence. With all the flaws and limitations, there are things to recommend this show to the Marley collector; cool, unique solos from Al, little raps from Bob, generally sublime grooves from the Wailers, ecstatic audience, stuff like that. I made many cassette copies of this back in the day, but I don't think this particular source circulates in the digital realm. The etree database has an entry for this date, but I haven't heard it, so I can't comment."
