Notes: As pure as Ivory soap, as flashy and obvious as a Broadway musical and as uncool as your grandma, the ultra-wholesome, ultra-square, ultra-Swedish ABBA were never exactly the embodiment of rock 'n' roll; but then again, they never claimed to be. (A)nni-Frid "Frida" Lyngstad, (B)enny Andersson, (B)jorn Ulvaeus and (A)gnetha Faltskog were already established solo artists in Sweden before forming ABBA in order to enter the Eurovision Song Contest (they won with the super-sugary "Waterloo"). They were the first international pop superstars who sang in a second language (in their case, English). At one point they were so hugely successful that only Volvo rivaled them as Sweden's top export. This is a rare show. Thanks Ella
