| Notes: | Here's a great show from Soul Asylum back in the days when the Village Voice referred to them as the "Best Live Band in America." The band is at the peak of their powers and this show is miles away from the "Runaway Train" crap that would soon follow. This was originally supposed to be an outdoor show, but got moved inside because of rain. Apparently nobody told the sound guy, because this was one of the loudest shows I've ever witnessed. It was a free show that took place at 5pm on a Friday afternoon at Marquette University (where I believe Dave Pirner's younger brother attended classes). I recorded this show with a boombox that I set up in the back of the room. The P.A. volume overloaded the built-in mics so there is some distortion to be heard, but the massive volume also eliminates almost all the background audience sounds during the songs. I'd give the sound quality about a "7.5" on a scale of 1 to 10. All edits are exactly as they are on the master tape, except for a fade out I added at the end after the show was over. No songs were missed and this is a virtually complete show. I created some artwork and also included some photos from the show. Enjoy! ********************************************************************** Soul Asylum "Don't Fuck With My Shit" Live at The Grill Brooks Memorial Union Marquette University Milwaukee, WI April 28, 1989 01 intro 02 Chains 03 Little Too Clean 04 Beggars And Choosers 05 Closer To The Stars 06 Made To Be Broken 07 Ode 08 Fucked Up 09 Cartoon 10 Growing Pain 11 That's When I Reach For My Revolver (Mission of Burma) 12 Standing In The Doorway 13 Never Really Been 14 Jack Of All Trades 15 Another World, Another Day 16 Only Women Bleed (Alice Cooper) 17 Freaks 18 Parchment Farm (Mose Allison by way of Blue Cheer) 19 Sonic Reducer (Dead Boys) 20 Be On Your Way 21 Heavy Rotation 22 crowd 23 Lookin' For A Love (Neil Young) 24 I Put A Spell On You (Screamin' Jay Hawkins by way of CCR) Source: Audience Master (Cassette)>Sound Forge>WAV>FLAC | |||||
