| Notes: | (Listed As A Soundboard, But Possiblly Audience With Microphones Mounted In Rafters.) ************************************************************** FLAC Tags Via xACT 2.50 By OldNeumanntapr ************************************************************** Lineage: "Gutterpunks At A Warehouse", (Hiwatt), SBD > Silver CD-R (1) > WAV (Exact Rip with xACT) > FLAC (Level 8, xACT) > TLH, Decode > WAV > Remastered WAV Files Saved To Hard Drive > Goldwave (Used For Opening Up The Original Remastered WAV File That Was Used For The First Draft Of The "Who Orleans" project Saved On The Hard Drive, then tape speed corrected (Slowed Down 3%), re- remastered, edited to remove all traces of gaps and silence, then re-split into new individual WAV files/tracks) > WAV > Flac, Level.8, Align On SBE's > Flac New Source Notes: This version is an upgrade to the previous version that was posted to the server, it has been tape speed corrected, and re-remastered due the fact that the changing of the tape speed will change the sound quality of the original remaster. I apologize to everyone who downloaded the previous version of our project that was unfortunately running at the incorrect tape speed, and for having to download another version of it. This was an error on our end, and we are sorry for not catching this issue while creating the project. I would like to state that we didn't just dive head first into this project (just remastering without paying attention to the tape speed issues), before we work on a project, we always listen to our recordings and determine what needs to be done to it in order to make it sound better (tape speed being one of those issues). We thought it was running at the correct speed, but we were wrong, our repertoire is mostly in Zeppelin remasters, and working on a recording of The Who is completely new territory for us, so we hope that you can forgive us for the error. Anyways, we read the complaints about the tape speed issues raised by "Bombdiggity", and decided to go back and look again at the project to see if they were indeed right. Luckily we always save all our files that we remaster on HD's and DVD-R's, so we went back into our computers hard drive to find the original files we remastered/worked on, and then re-worked them by fixing the tape speed by slowing it down by just tinkering with it, and taking the notes posted on the server into consideration, and we think we have solved the problem. After the tape speed issues were corrected, we had to go back and re-remaster the files because the change in speed changes the sound of the recording, and so we've EQ'ed the project to correspond to the new tape speed, and we're quite happy with the results. So the new lineage of this release is this: "Gutterpunks At A Warehouse", (Hiwatt), SBD > Silver CD-R (1) > WAV (Exact Rip with xACT) > FLAC (Level 8, xACT) > TLH, Decode > WAV > Remastered WAV Files Saved To Hard Drive > Goldwave (Used For Opening Up The Original Remastered WAV File That Was Used For The First Draft Of The "Who Orleans" project Saved On The Hard Drive, then tape speed corrected (Slowed Down 3%), re- remastered, edited to remove all traces of gaps and silence, then re-split into new individual WAV files/tracks) > WAV > Flac, Level.8, Align On SBE's > Flac What makes this new remaster different from the first draft is that this new draft runs at the correct tape speed, it has less harshness on the vocals (which were quite up front in the mix), it picks up more of Keith's drum fills (something that was brought up in the first remaster, but not as strongly as we fee it is here), and I can hear a bit more of the audience and the acoustics of the venue than what was presented in the previous draft. So in conclusion, this version an upgrade to the previous version because of the following: - We have corrected the tape speed issues that plague the recording. - We have remastered to a point where the sound is superior due to it having a cleaner sound, better sense of ambience and audience presence, drum fills, balanced instruments, and smoother vocals. - We also have changed the track list so people can (if they choose to) skip over the long banter the band have in between songs. | Notes: | Gutter Punks At A Warehouse Good to Very Good Soundboard recording. See http://www.thewho.net/bootlegs/gutterpunks.html for more details. "Baba O' Riley" fades in with RD's harmonica playing and fades out early towards the end. There is a fade out at the end of "Won't Get Fooled Again" which comes back right before the start of "Baby, Don't You Do It". "Baby, Don't You Do It" ends and cuts. There is an overdub from another recording before the beginning of "Magic Bus" fades in and ends abruptly. | |||||
