| Notes: | Coldplay have good reason to by happy. Their debut album 'Paracutes' has just clocked up three million sales worldwide, they've had two top ten hits and have already pocketed a host of awards. Not bad for four lads with an average age of 22. The amazing part of it all is the speed at which it has happened. It's only a year ago that Coldplay were propping up the bill on the NME Tour. Danny O'Connor talks to the whole band and the people involved in their success. Along the way he tells the story of the band, from their childhood interest in music, their first meeting at The University of London in 1996, and forming the band. There's also the stories behind their name, first gig, being an angst rock band, being in the NME for the first time, and a whole lot more right up until a man called Steve Lamacq giving them a chance to get heard on the radio. | |||||
