Notes: Recorder 1: Pink Floyd 1971-04-03 Rotterdam, Recorder 1, unknown gen stratcat58 tapes (24bit/96kHz) Lineage: TDK SA90 cassettes (1985/6) > Technics RS-B565 > Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 > Reaper v4.76 > FLAC (24bit/96kHz) Recorder 2: LIVE IN ROTTERDAM (MAF/R&D) April 3, 1971 Sportpaleis Ahoy, Rotterdam, Netherlands Lineage: AUD(src2)>Live In Rotterdam LP>PCM(declicked)>CD-R>EAC>SHN Recorder 1 is a mono recording that was transferred to analog stereo format in the lineage. The left channel alone is used here. The right channel is full of broken connection crackling sounds. Recorder 2 is genuine stereo. Arranging the recording R2-Rch left, R2-Lch center, R1 right, seems to extend and complete a stereo image. Some live mix panning can be heard to flow across these recorders. The performance is reinforced with a more complete mix in a wide stereo image. The songs and fragments captured by the mono R1 alone are restored as well as possible for a complete show. Imagine you got a seating upgrade at track 4 if it helps. The recordings were cleaned of the worst artifacts like mains hum and thumps from hitting the microphone. The louder parts overwhelm the recording devices a bit leading to the classic 'inside out' audience recording with the quiet sections now louder than the originally louder parts. All mastering and restoration work from speed correction, synchronizing recorders, artifact and noise removal or reduction, eq surgery and correction, and dynamics work using Reaper DAW with Waves & UA plugins and iZotope RX spectral editor. Recorder 2 was upsampled to 96k with SOX prior to work. Jimfisheye, April 2022

Another stellar show, excellent sound. This comes from the 1st generation tape of the great performance in Rotterdam. This is Pink Floyd at their best! It has less hiss than other tapes commonly in circulation. SQ is easily VG+ or EX-. Except where noted below, it includes complete and sometimes rather lengthy tuneups between tracks. I really like this concert since it includes Pictish rants during 'A Saucerful Of Secrets'. The concert itself is also quite long with some interesting jams and gong bashing! This is an essential roio. Any "serious" Pink Floyd collectors should have this. Disc One: - 'STCFTHOTS' - Very minor break in the master tape at 14:45. - There is an extended tuneup session after 'Cymbaline', which I have split as a separate track. Disc Two: - 'ASOS' - There are 10 seconds missing from the end of Roger's pre-break announcement. The few missing words are found on the ROIO "The Band Who Ate Asteroids For Breakfast." Roger has a chance to let loose with a short Pictish rant. - 'Atom Heart Mother' - Complete with brass and choir conducted by Jerry Mitchell.

Notes: Liberated RoIO "AHOY". Lots of sound issues - tunnel sound, really noticeable tape hiss, dropouts in both channels. Still a show worth having. 'STCFTHOTS' - Very minor break in the master tape at 14:45. 'ASOS' - There are 10 seconds missing from the end of Roger's pre-break announcement. 2 aud cd. http://www.pf-roio.de/roio/roio-cd/ahoy.cd.html
