Notes: Pink Floyd 1971-08-13 Melbourne, stratcat58 3rd gen (24bit/96kHz) Pink Floyd Festival Hall, Melbourne, Australia 13 August 1971 Lineage: Maxell XLII 90 cassette (bet.1992-96) > Technics RS-B565 > Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 > Reaper v4.76 > FLAC (24bit/96kHz) > vince666 > WAV 96Khz/32bit float > speed correction > WAV 96Khz/32bit float > dithered to 24bit > track splits > WAV 96Khz/24bit > FLAC 96Khz/24bit *Neonknight's notes* Karmamania is the authority on this date and copies linked to his 1st gen set the benchmark. I feel that stratcat58's tape sounds generally better than the 1st gen. It has stronger high end and you can hear more detail but you can also sometimes hear some distortion in the right channel that's not present on the 1st gen. Karmamania's 1st gen also has more tuning up before AHM and Cymbaline. Worth keeping both I would say. Karmamania explained on the Brain Damage website that the master was recorded using a Sony TC80 mono portable cassette recorder, smuggled in a schoolbag, and a BASF cassette. The original tape ran out after five and a half minutes into Saucerful. The show was recorded about fifty yards from the stage in the stalls. For more details see karmamania's text files and http://www.brain-damage.co.uk/concerts/pink-floyd-australia-august-1971.html Go-Set magazine commented: "Pink Floyd are very serious and involved as they play. The only showmanship is that of concentration, listening to one another, waiting for their separate parts, weaving those adventurous, inventive space patterns." *Vince's mastering notes* The recording did run fast from approx 4,5% to approx 6%... each song was corrected with a fixed speed change, no variable corrections/changes made... no EQ, no NR, no level change, etc. Stratcat58 cassette / Neonknight tape transfer / Vince666 mastering, August 2017

Notes: 2nd gen metal cassette [16-44] Pink Floyd Festival Hall, Melbourne, Australia 13 August 1971 Lineage: 2nd gen Sony metal 100 minute cassette (1990-92 type) > Technics RS-B565-MH > Tascam SD-20M > Reaper v5.983 > FLAC (24bit/96kHz) > Adobe Audition 2.0 for speed correction, editing and track divides > FLAC (16bit/44.1kHz Total running time 1 hour 32 mins 18 secs Thank you for sending your tape on a 10,000 mile journey to me CCE338 - certainly the longest trip a cassette has gone on for a neonknight Yeeshkul release and it was definitely worthwhile. I would also like to thank pelino for his speed correction work and for moving the songs around so they are in the correct order. CCE338's metal cassette was copied from his karmamania 1st gen tape. You no doubt have a transfer and re-master of the 1st gen in your collection.

From the 3rd gen tape given to the Digital Floyd Archives. . Slight noise-reduction-noise in the background. Not really much of a bother, but I think I hate that noise more than tape-hiss when listening through headphones. Echoes has the old lyrics, but was referred to not as RotSoN at this show, but as Echoes!! Still has the old lyrics...and is supposed to have a different word in the first verses. Haven't listened for that, I must say...but that would be interesting considering this *is* the last recording of those lyrics. The discs obviously have a lot of tuning/between track stuff... which is great. I love to hear the tuneups intact. Though I think in this case, the complete A Saucerful Of Secrets is sacrificed because of the tape used by the tuneups.. :( Seems to have been the last performence of Green Is The Colour. The last recorded performence, at least. The sound is very clear, the Echoes lyrics come through very nice. Some distortion on the loudest volumns, particularly the transition between Green Is The Colour>Careful With That Axe, Eugene. And overall the bass is rather overpowering. Basically, certainly not bad, but could be slightly better. BUT, it is from a 3rd gen tape, so I won't be complaining too much. Recording Quality: 7/10 Historic/Performence: 7/10
