Notes: (w/New Barbarians Opening Set) NEW BARBARIANS / THE ROLLING STONES - "BLIND DATE" Label: "KR 422" (1st edition) - (vinyl rip) DATE/VENUE: "Canadian National Institute For The Blind Benefit Concerts" Civic Auditorium, Oshawa, Ontario, Canada April 22nd 1979 (2nd show) LINEAGE: Technics SL-1210MK2 with Shure M97 x E (MM) - DENON PMA-710 - direct source, no equalizing - capture with CoolEdit Pro 2.0 - de-crackle with Soundforge 9.0 - normalizing, fade-in and fade-out, track-splitting again with CE Pro 2.0 - flac with flac-frontend on a VM-machine with Windows XP as flac isn't running under Windows 7 (at least not on my PC) - correction of SBE's with Trader's Little Helper (thanks again, tjkrol) QUALITY: Excellent Audience recording SHARED BY: Silkcut1978 - thanks! COMMENTS: This vinyl rip, kindly shared by Silkcut1978 on IORR ( http://www.iorr.org/talk/read.php?2,1459039,page=1 ) , features the 2nd Oshawa show of 1979; both the performance by Ronnie's band; New Barbarians; and the Rolling Stones. Unlike the well-known "Blind Date Revisited" CD-bootlegs (which feature a SBD recording of this show), this vinyl features the whole glorious show in EXCELLENT audience quality. So, it's a different listening experience. PERFORMANCE: Not for beginners. It's extremely ragged. But also, it's great fun - with the band being so loose and out of it. Almost like a private Rolling Stones party. Bill Wyman himself wrote that the "2nd show was a lot better than the 1st show". Therefore, I'm pretty happy about the 1st performance not being available in listenable quality. (It IS available in real poor quality though, on the LP "Place Aux Dames, Shades & Canes" )

Notes: A soundboard, but my copy was transferred from a tape (though a very low-gen. tape). There might be a little extra hiss because of that. I also think the Stones set here kinds sucks. It's a neat historic document to have because Keith was sentenced to do it and because the two benefit shows were the only ones the Stones played in '79. But they've certainly had better days.
