Notes: Digital transfer(2009) of Charley C.'s dat(0) given to him by the taper in 2006. This is a digital clone made of the off the air master cassette by the taper himself for Charley. This is the complete 60 minute FM broadcast of this show and was taped from the FM broadcast on KQ98 on March 14th, 1976. This show captures Herbie Hancock and The Headhunters touring in support of their album Man-Child. This would be the final tour, final show of the tour and album done with The Headhunters. This album and tour marked his most funkiest period of his jazz fusion music he did in the 70s.

The good news is that it is a 2nd gen FM broadcast. The bad news is that it cuts off prematurely at about 48 min during a percussion jam. The first thing I thought when I played this show was that it was a "hyper" performance in contrast to some of the more sweaty and slinky funk I have heard from this group(I don't think it runs fast based on Herbie's voice in between tunes). Mike Clark sounds even hotter than usual to me. Also, it's interesting to hear Blackbyrd's guitar style as opposed to the great Wah Wah Watson. Hope this is a nice surprise for Herbie fans. It was for me. Enjoy. *Little known fact about Blackbyrd McNight": As well as funking it up with George Clinton, he also played with Miles in 86'. I picked up a recording from Humphrey's in San Diego expecting Robben Ford or maybe Garth Webber but Blackbyrd was on board! I could upload the show but the sound quality is not very good.
