Notes: UPGRADE~ Handheld external battery powered mic > Sony D-6 walkman > Yamaha KX-250 Cassette Deck > Maxell XLII cassette (1st generation) Two .wav files on a DVD-RW > PC > CD Wave (track splits) > Sound Forge 5.0 (a couple of fades) > FLAC (level 6, ASB) This is an "alternate capture" (ie, a different recording) of the May 2, 1985 show previously seeded by JonBubba at http://www.dimeadozen.org/torrents-details.php?id=128976 The guitar is much more prominent in this recording, and it's just a better recording overall, in my opinion, as each instrument and each vocalist is more distinct and clear. It's one of the best Husker Du audience recordings I've heard, and the performance is excellent. Thanks to the taper, to rappard for sending me the DVD-RW with the WAV files, and to rappard's source. I split the WAVs into tracks with CD Wave, made a couple of very minor edits with Sound Forge (added fades to a couple of tracks), then encoded to FLAC.

Notes: Near soundboard > handheld external battery powered mic > Aiwa walkman > Sony FeCr90 cassette (master) - "The tape is compromised somewhat by a muddy p.a and the saltbox acoustics of Larry's Hideaway but is still worth hearing." - "The tape is complete except for a brief cut and mic problems between 'Everything Falls Apart' and 'Heaven Hill' and a tape flip during 'Green Eyes'." - "I know there are at least 2 other masters out there; one muddier than mine and one with Bob's guitar and vocals louder. Larry's was a low-ceilinged dive that closed in 1986 (the basement of a hotel on Carlton Ave.l) with lots of drugs, fistfights, and security, not a taper's dream..." - "I got jostled a bit and had to get off the chair I was standing on (the club was full) and the muddy p.a and low-ceilinged shoebox acoustics of Larry's didn't help. The tape had deteriorated a bit in the last 20 years...I know of at least two other recordings of that show in circulation."
