On the Sunny Side of the Street ------------------------------------------------------- Notes: - An interesting recording. This date came to me with two file sets. One set is a half step higher in pitch than the other. This set is the set that is the lower in pitch of the two. - This version, LL88 most closely matches the track timings supplied by Peter Losin. The sound is cleaner also so I would assume some editing has been performed on this version which has made it easier on the ears as some of the distortion has been cleaned up and the levels adjusted. - What a night to be at birdland. The sound is good on these, and the playing is very nice. This is a true piece of history. Hit play, take yourself back and enjoy. The biggest flaw on this for me was that it was too short. - Thanks to Peter Losin for the source. - "Some discographies place this broadcast in June, but the available evidence suggests May. The Charlie Parker Quartet, the Dizzy Gillespie Group, and the Bud Powell Trio were all booked at Birdland May 21-26; Parker remained (opposite Ella Fitzgerald) through June 3. Davis replaced Gillespie on one night (May 16), and joined him as a second trumpet here."- Credit to Peter Losin, http://www.plosin.com/" - QC done by Bgreen md5 53e3904b27fcbbf49fc0d810214a4dcf *md1953-05-23.LL88.d1t01.flac f07dd3d2fcee58ba1729fa60b423fd89 *md1953-05-23.LL88.d1t02.flac ffp md1953-05-23.LL88.d1t01.flac:ce0b1bdafb2cf13e1fe97e245fcbcc2f md1953-05-23.LL88.d1t02.flac:fcea2fa97c9ce5b36cf857eac0ba7950 st5 ce0b1bdafb2cf13e1fe97e245fcbcc2f [shntool] md1953-05-23.LL88.d1t01.flac fcea2fa97c9ce5b36cf857eac0ba7950 [shntool] md1953-05-23.LL88.d1t02.flac shntool length expanded size cdr WAVE problems filename 6:27.54 68393852 --- -- ---xx md1953-05-23.LL88.d1t01.flac 2:47.35 29541164 --- -- ---xx md1953-05-23.LL88.d1t02.flac 9:15.14 97935016 B (totals for 2 files, 0.3251 overall compression ratio) spectral analysis from TLH md1953-05-23.LL88.d1t01.wav: track looks like CDDA with probability 100% md1953-05-23.LL88.d1t02.wav: track looks like CDDA with probability 100% old ffp 12 - Track12.flac:ce0b1bdafb2cf13e1fe97e245fcbcc2f 13 - Track13.flac:fcea2fa97c9ce5b36cf857eac0ba7950 | |||||
