| Notes: | A show that was severely impacted by the weather - lightning struck one of the towers which forced the evacuation of the theater and shortened support act Modest Mouse's set. R.E.M. came on at 10:10pm after a lengthy rain delay, but it still rained constantly throughout the show. This seemed to bring out the best in the band, who treated the crowd to some real rarities, beginning with the Creedence song they used to cover at every show way back in 1985, then keeping the water theme going with So. Central Rain, which I don't think had ever been a show opener before (not counting the Creedence 90 second snippet). That was followed soon after by an extremely rare post 1989 performance of 1,000,000 (performed 4 times in 2008). Because of the delay the band didn't leave the stage for an encore. It's The End Of The World was not on the original setlist, but given the circumstances the crowd were treated to a rare for that part of the tour performance. A simply terrific show in the circumstances. Recording notes: This is a very good sounding recording, all credit to blegdave for what was his first Dime torrent. They picked a tough one to begin with! There is noise at times which sounds like hiss and crackle, that is rain hitting the taper's umbrella. It's happens quite frequently so there must have been a lot of rain that night. I'm very glad they managed to proceed! Torrent notes: As noted above, this was recorded and torrented by user blegdave in 2008 (can't find the exact date). I have tagged the files, added some brilliant artwork that Sibko from the old Murmurs.com board put together (kudos to him), and added new ffp and md5 files. The recording itself has been untouched. If you don't have this one it's definitely worth a download. Personally I loved the 2008 tour. With the benefit of hindsight it felt like the band knew this was it, and they went out on a huge high.
