Notes: Imnotaper's Comments: My friend Sam and I were on the second row for Clapton's first appearance at Bobcat's Arena. EC emerged from backstage already playing, as if he couldn't wait to start. He smiled, chatted with band members between songs and was more animated than usual. The solos were intense throughout the show. Derek Trucks was wonderful. His solo during "Cocaine" was absolutely eerie, almost like a wounded animal. There were a few notable things about this show: "Anyday" was dedicated to Carl Radle, because some of his family were in attendance. Clapton pulled out the Gibson ES-335 for "After Midnight" and "Little Queen of Spades." It was one of the last times, if not the last, that Clapton has played a Gibson in concert. His performance of "Back Home" was the last time anything from that album has been played. This show was also the last time "I Am Yours" was played. Last but not least, as the band lined up for the final bow, Eric spotted the Heads on a Stick that Sam and I were waving. He laughed and pointed them out to Derek. This recording has some serious issues during "Further On Up The Road" and "Wonderful Tonight." There is mic noise, then "FOUTR" gets very muffled. Voices can be heard. I wondered if the taper had been discovered. "WT" is also muffled, then everything returns to normal for "Layla." But these problems should not keep you from downloading this show. It is one of the best of the 45 I have witnessed. Geetarz Comments: Thanks to JM for his patience as it took me over a year to get to these masters! I hope the wait was worth it. Thanks so Sambo#8 and Imnotaper for the great photos and recollections from the show.
