Notes: Riders On The Storm Ulrich City Centre Lockport, NY August 8, 2008 Lineage: GE 3-5364A piece of crap cassette recorder with Maxell XLII cass(M) > Technics playback deck > Adobe Audition 1.5 (NR, EQ, Stereo Spatialization, fades & Track Splits) > TLH (SBE fix and flac 8) > you Ladies and Gentlemen...From Los Angeles, California...The........ And so it began. Not the Doors, but Riders On The Storm. Starring Robbie Krieger and Ray Manzarek. And boy could these guys play. They jammed for over 2 hours, blowing off the curfew, guys in uniforms onstage telling them to stop, and on they played. All the good songs. And they didn't murder The End, instead forgoeing it for other gems. I was in awe at the blazing fingers of Krieger, and Ray was pretty damn good too. The singer, Brent Scallions, did a reasonable job with the vocals, but didn't have ther range to keep it interesting for a long time. Ray was having a blast, as was Krieger. I was proud to be there and feel like I just saw the Doors for real. The tape is the same recorder that I used these past few shows because it's around. I had a nice Hi-8 videocamera that I was planning to do this show with, but I can't locate a head cleaner for it and it chose to pick now to tell me it doesn't want to work because the heads are dirty. Its really small in there. I can't really do it by hand without endangering the heads. So back to the crap cassette recorder. But I'm glad I brought it, because the show was just magic. due to an extremely low recording level on this recorder, the noise floor practically outshouts the music. So extensive NR was used on this tape. Sory, purists. It was a rescue effort. It really doesn't sound too bad now. A bit midrangey and some hiss, but not bad at all. There's a small spot near the end of When The Music's Over that I punched in from the lossy digital recording I made too (just in case this happened) because they wouldn't stop playing it. It went on for a while. Great rendition too, I might add. 17 minutes! 101 Intro 102 Love Me Two Times 103 Break On Through 104 Love Her Madly 105 When The Music's Over 106 political rant 107 Peace Frog 108 Moonlight Drive 109 Horse Lattitudes 110 Wild Child 111 Alabama Song (Whiskey Bar) 201 Backdoor Man 202 Five To One 203 Who Do You Love 204 Touch Me 205 L.A.
