Notes: "I saw quite a few great Phantoms shows, but nothing that approached this one. The night before was the real gig at the Court Tavern. This was the spillover, "and by the way, tomorrow night we will be at the Melody Bar for free." So back up to NB we went. Generally the Phantoms play a 75 minute or so set, so we were not expecting a 140 minute show, absolutely loaded with killer covers and the Phantoms most worthy original material. The recording: There was no stage. If there was such a thing as the front row I was in it. All of the instruments are very present - with all the sound coming straight from the amps. Miraculously, the vocals are up there too. On the first song the guitar coulda been louder, but I just told Marc to turn his amp more toward the crowd - problem solved. There are no problems with the SQ, no audience noise, no hiss - just a great listen. The singing, musicianship, material and spirit of this performance (and the recording) all contribute to it being a classic." -G2
