Notes: Personnel: Isobel Campbell: Vocals, Cello, Percussion Mark Lanegan: Vocals Peter Dombernowsky: Drums, Percussion Jim McCulloch: Guitar Jeff Fielder : Guitar, Dobro, Keyboard Thoger Lund: Electric Bass, Upright Bass (homemade) * Willy Mason: Vocals, Guitar tr. 9 - 14 without Mark Lanegan ("taking a rest") Beautiful. The "Fabrik" is located in a 150 years old machine factory, an ample floor with a central nave 3 stories high that gives it a churchlike impression, seated for the occasion, usually (and in this case literally) a pain in the ass. But it provided for a very quit audience, no running around for beer. The mostly quiet show, the beautiful harmonies of the contrasting voices, the dark room with no lightshow at all (mostly just a docend blue stagelights) created an enchanted athmosphere - it's been a long time since I've seen such a quiet audience - virtually no chatter during the music, you could have heard a pin drop - actually and unfortunately, during the first song you can hear the shutter of the camera a pro was taking photos with 8 m from where I recorded... The music no spontanous affair, true to the setlist, well rehearsed, Dombernowski and Lund providing a solid backbone, nice guitar and esp. dobro, sparce chello and percussion, all centered on the voices of Campbell and Lanegan, whose stoical performance was just great. The recording sounds very nice as well, minor flaw the afore mentioned photographer. Ca. 1 minute of crowd noise is missing during the encore break, due to change of md, the gap was joined seemless. No equalizing, just level adjustment and some hard limiter to close applaus. No samples, not necessary.
