Happiness Notes: A very nice sounding audience recording which runs about 65 minutes. This show was given to me as a CDR with the title "2:45 Mr. Smith", a reference to a member of the crowd (rather close to the taper, if not the taper himself) who repeatedly requests 2:45 AM. Does he get to hear his request?!? You'll just have to listen to find out!!! Or you can just take the easy way out and read the tracklisting. I will tell you that he offers perhaps the greatest bribe I've ever heard in a concert recording and to this day I wonder if he actually followed through on it. Sorry My Mistake was a song written for Figure 8 that didn't make the cut. A backing track only demo is known to exist. Half Right is a Heatmiser song from Mic City Sons (hidden track at the end of the disc). You will sometimes see that song listed as "Not Half Right" as the title of the song wasn't listed on the album art. The correct title ("Half Right") was unknown until Mary Lou Lord covered it on her 'Live City Sounds' album in 2001. At this point, Happiness was probably still known by its second name of "Tom's Start." The song started its life being called "Back in the Day" when it premiered on the radio show Drinking From Puddles on June 8th 1998. It is slightly odd to hear Miss Misery at this point in his career as Elliott laregly stopped playing it after he got sick and tired of playing it at every promotional stop he made after Good Will Hunting. Recording Notes: The CDR I recieved was of an unknown generation, and had a TAO in its lineage. So it was kinda ugly. It sat on my harddrive for a -long- time. I ripped the cd August 25 2003 according to the timestamp on the eac log, and didn't get around to cleaning the show up until August 28th 2005. I didn't do any EQ or anything (so the fact that the levels are off the chart in several places isn't my fault), just a simple recombine, cut empty space to fix the TAO, and retrack, followed by a run through shntool to fix sector boundaries. There were already a few random blips and pops during the audience noise, and I'm glad I did a good enough job not to add to them.
