Ai confini tra Sardegna e Jazz 2011 festival : Victor Bailey Trio
recorded in Piazza del Nuraghe, Sant’Anna Arresi (Italy), on sunday 28 august 2011
Victor Bailey, bass, vocals;
Mike Stern, guitar;
Julius Pastorius, drums.
this show happened on the same night of the already seeded James Blood Ulmer set: apparently, as Bailey anounces before last track, it was due to take place in duo with Othello Moulineux, but because of unpredictable events like hurricanes and so, he could only jam with who was available at the festival over a few speeded-up standards... and Stern still has it, yes... resulting vaguely beck and hammer... or actually jeff beck and stanley clarke. Also included in the folder as track 00 a radio introduction in ITALIAN with bio notes and commentaries - this intro runs for 5'25", you can skip downloading it if you don't understand italian. Last year's festival was in memory of Jaco Pastorius, that's why everybody talks about it. Track 02 could be something off the weather report book I can't remember the title of...
00-radio introduction by Pino Saulo [5.25]
01-Mister PC [Coltrane 10.59]
02- unannounced tune [8.57]
03-Softly As In The Morning Sunrise [Sigmund Romberg and Oscar Hammerstein 14.04]
04-Do You Know Who He Was [aka Continuum, music by Jaco with lyrics by Bailey 6.39]
05-radio outro [0.32]
running time : 40'39" (without radio intro and outro)
WITH radio intro and outro, it would be 46'36"
FM radio broadcast by "Il Cartellone - Radiotre Suite Jazz", Radio 3 RAI [third channel of Italian national radio], on thursday 14 June 2012, 21:34 hours CET.

Because of unpredictable events, Victor had to play a different slot time at the festival, and with whomever was available at the time!! So, joining in him in the trio format is Mike Stern (guitar) and Felix Pastorius (drums), ripping up some standards :-) |
