"Bosnian Rainbows" is a new band by "The Mars Volta" co-founder Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, on tour in Europe in September & October 2012. While the tickets for the shows still announce the "Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Group", Omar himself declared the name of the new band at the shows.

Notes: "Bosnian Rainbows" is a new band by "The Mars Volta" co-founder Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, on tour in Europe in September & October 2012. While the tickets for the shows still announce the "Omar Rodriguez-Lopez Group", Omar himself declared the name of the new band at the shows. The music sounds energetic and fresh, an appropriate classification of the music genre might be somewhere between indie, electronica and punk rock. The stage presence of singer Teri Gender Bender (also member of "Le Butcherettes") is spectacular, while the guys are jamming, she is dancing in and with the audience, e.g. during Torn Maps. While during Turtle Neck she was dancing to the escape door and opened it (it was quite hot at the venue), using a stone that later became a fan's souvenir. Then during the last song, she was even leaving the venue for a moment while the guys were jamming, only to be found upstairs (where I was standing) dancing on a table. This time I had a much better view to the stage and I really enjoyed watching everybody onstage having fun. It was kind of strange to watch Deantoni drumming left-handed during some songs, while he was handling a synthesizer with his right hand, but even with one hand he lets the rhythm flow. Omar did backing vocals during Turtle Neck and Better Off, but probably his mic wasn't open. The hall of the FZW is a rather small venue, and it was not packed, I guess there were not much more than 100 people in the audience. Recorded from above the soundboard, there was a small tier with great sight to the stage, about 8 m away. Unfortunately that was also a place for people not paying attention to the music all the time, so there is chatter during the quiet parts. What is noteworthy about the recording is the fact Omar's guitar is overshadowing everything else (including the vocals), so if you ever wanted to hear clearly what he's doing, here you have the chance to. Cover art is included. Visit the Comatorium (http://forum.thecomatorium.com/forum/) for reviews, pictures and more from the show. Please do not convert the recording to mp3 or other lossy formats unless for personal use. And please do not sell. Enjoy!
