Scatta Head DAUD: AKG c460b/a60m/a51/ck22 (Healy Method, ~ 12' high, FOB) -> Busman V/T mod. Edirol R-4 Pro ('vintage' mod pres @ 24bit/48KHz) -> .wav -> MacBook Pro/iZotope RX (edit tons of claps/pops, whistles, feedback, etc.) -> Digital Performer 5.1 (fades, para EQ, limiter, split tracks, resample to 44.1KHz) -> .wav -> iZotope RX (MBIT+ dither to 16bit) -> .wav -> xACT v1.71 -> FLAC (level 8) Recorded, edited, and FLAC'd by James Bartoli Notes: Femi Kuti's sound engineer had a lot of issues getting the system dialed, so this recording has been EQ'd with a few notches in addition to a simple bass roll off. The limiter was only slightly touched (~ 1-2dB) by the loudest peaks. A less is more approach was taken towards EQ/limiting to let the recording document what was. Some feedback spots were attenuated (low frequency/Femi's vocals) or scrubbed (high frequency) with iZotope RX. A really drunk group came up behind the small FOB taper section as the set beagn, becoming more rowdy during the set. The majority of the offtime clapping, excessive whistles, and general ego-marking has been scrubbed with iZotope RX - a tedious process of many hours. This recording is dedicated to the narcissist in the group with the egg shaker, for whom his out of place 'territorial pissings' remain.
