| Notes: | Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls at Agganis Arena, Boston, MA, February 18, 2017, audience recording. This was recorded with Zoom H2 with internal mics, on the low mic gain setting. H2 lined into computer by USB, wav sent to Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 12. Magix program was used for track markings. Flac created with Trader's Little Helper, SBE and torrent work also done with TLH. Track listing: 01 - The Sand In The Gears 02 - The Next Storm 03 - I Still Believe 04 - stage chat 05 - Losing Days 06 - Try This At Home 07 - Long Live The Queen 08 - stage chat - keyboard solo 09 - Glorious You 10 - Polaroid Picture 11 - Plain Sailing Weather 12 - stage chat 13 - The Way I Tend To Be 14 - stage chat 15 - Redemption 16 - stage chat 17 - The Ballad Of Me and My Friends 18 - The Opening Act Of Spring 19 - The Road 20 - stage chat 21 - If I Ever Stray 22 - Out Of Breath 23 - Photosynthesis 24 - crowd noise 25 - Love, Ire, & Song 26 - stage chat 27 - Recovery 28 - Get Better 29 - Four Simple Words cut off The sound quality on this gets an A-, mostly. It was recorded from section 102, Row H, seat 11, to the side of stage left (our right), and it's generally a straight shot from the mics to the PA. I went to the bathroom and beer line in the following places: towards the end of track 02 until the middle of track 04 (during this one, the recorder evidently fell over sideways, so it's a bit muffled for a minute or two), about 30 seconds into track 13 until the start of track 14, the end of track 19 until the very end of track 21. During these points, I left my recorder sitting on my bunched up shirt, and the music gets a little less clear and nice, but not unlistenable at all. I started to make my way out of the venue, slowly at the end of track 27. Most of the rest of it is recorded from the stairs that you walk out of the aisles onto, so I could run out of there - had to bike-ride to a train, and time was getting tight. I did miss the last chorus of the last song played, so this recording is probably missing about 2 minutes. There is a bit of singalong and audience participation, but it's not offensive, and adds a bit of atmosphere. I got a lot of help from setlist.fm for the set-list. I included a bunch of lo-fi cell-phone photos, mostly imperfect and blurry. I went to this show, with my pal Jim (who sucks at controlling the recorder, so I just put it on my seat to make life simple, when I got up to use the many fine facilities in the facility), solely to see the Bouncing Souls, and wasn't at all expecting to stick around for this set. There was another show with a lot of bands right down the street, that I was planning on catching some of. I had never listened to Frank Turner before, and sort of assumed I wouldn't dig it. I was completely thrown off, though. I didn't leave - I stayed as late as possible, and wish I had caught the last two minutes. It was inspiring. The crowd was really a good bunch, a real mix of this and that. "All ages" would be a very applicible term. I'll likely go see him again. Enjoy - Craig | |||||
