| Notes: | Transfer of master cassettes: Nakamichi CR-3A w/out Dolby > Audigy 4 Pro @ 24/44.1 > Audacity (remove loud clapping, smoothing tape flips, volume changes and convert to 16 bits) > CD Wav > Flac (Level 8) We stood near the center of the floor about 25 feet from the stage. It was jammed and we were right in the crowd. Used Johns Musgrave's 2 Sennheiser MKH 404 tu microphones with the Sony D5-M and 2 TDK-MA C-90 Cassettes. We were right were we needed to be but there are always "those guys" when recording and we had one also. Moved around a couple times to get distance but a lot of his loud clapping came through. During editing the real "close" clapping was removed as much as possible (one clap at a time) using the delete and repair functions. We were in full stealth mode and were holding the microphones lower than preferred and the high end suffered a bit. I don't normally transfer tapes without decoding the Dolby but in this case it compensates for the microphone location. The quiet songs do suffer slightly from the increase in the analog tape hiss. Gave some thought about using noise reduction but the hiss isn't that bad and decided not too. Some applause was tacked on to the end of disc one track 8 from 41:16 to 41:22 where the flip is spliced. Some applause was tacked on to the end of disc one track 13 at 67:47 where the flip is spliced. Some applause was tacked on to the end of disc two track 4 from 14:39 to 14:43 where the flip is spliced. Some applause was tacked on to the end of disc two track 10 from 55:07 to 55:16 where the flip is spliced. This was to clean up the quick tape flips that cut into the applause and made abrupt endings. Amplitude was increased by 3 dB on both sets. Audacity was used to record and perform the editing as well as to dither the files to 16 bits. Cd Wave was then used to cut the tracks and Traders Little Helper was used to convert and create checksums and fingerprints. Sit back and enjoy another trip in the way back machine. I think you will agree that this show is in the groove. Ain't It The Truth.
