James Taylor also did one of his own songs called Raised up family. Pretty rare: Mark plays the last fast solo of Sultans of Swing wrong here! Very nice concert, complete show. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment pyroman: Perfect sound, great show, very good performances, excellent mood. This is the first show from the American leg of the tour. James Taylor sings on Sailing To Philadelphia and Raised Up Family. Great Sailing To Philadelphia, Sultans of Swing and Pyroman. I recommend this show very much - it will really bring you the real atmosphere which was on STP tour.... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Enlight note: "Knopfler opened his American tour on a considerable high at the sold-out Orpheum, aided by a guest appearance by friend James Taylor. It was fitting that Taylor (making his first appearance since fathering twin boys earlier that month ) should join Knopfler. Not only do the two sing together on the title track to Knopfler's "Sailing to Philadelphia" , also Mark and the band assist James Taylor performing his "Raised up family" song." Another Boston Gig Enlight? You might think I have friends over there, which is not. Maybe I made some the past last day musicality wise. (lemme know boston!) just another great show, see comment above which I cannot agree more. sound quality is excellent(AUD) only during the 60 sec.start of "Walk of life", the sound volume decreases, it seems that the taper's mics are covered by his coat, maybe he hide them not to get busted, i can not tell for sure. After that the sound is back as good as it was before! The slowest "So far away" i ever heard. (yes it is in the right place as it was in the setlist, later it switched after BIA, and it was one of the first time this song was played during the tour, only once in Mexico I recall) ^^^^ Ok, Ok...Mark really F*cks up that famous quick riff during "Sultans of Swing" outro solo. Not only a little part of it but the whole arpeggio, I couldn't and still can not believe how that happened. Mark does not apologized at all or makes any remark about it. This brought me back to 1979 cologne 16 feb.show, were Mark played Sultans twice with the words:"Alright now, let's do this Sultans and do it properly..." three songs later at the end of the show. If Mark had any balls, he did this again 22 years later!! Or at least he asked the band to play the solo chord-progression, and plays it properly.just for fun! Luckily Mark Knopfler is just a human being like everybody else, and I must say.... that's a relieve! (Hey I love the man, that's why I wrote this part)!
