camp pigout', a jam by the
spontaneously named 'hot club of pigtown'. this was a group of django
reinhardt style players who have a new group in nevada city, ca named
the
Djangoholics [consisting of norm johnson (guitar), jay cebellos
(mandolin),
nick lotze
(guitar) and mary berry (bass)] who had a couple good players drop by
their
camp that
night to join them for a jam, ie., Joe Craven on fiddle and Rick
"Brick"
Montgomery on guitar (who was with the Grisman Quintet in the early
days).
besides the great playing, extreme silliness ensued, enhanced perhaps
by
tequilas or
coronas or who-knows-whats and it being 2:30am, and it was the first
time
i've witnessed joe craven failing to do well at something. not failing
to
play well, cause i haven't heard that happen yet, but failing at his
bugs
bunny
imitation. sorry joe, not even close
