Notes: this recording starts out with some distortion in the mix [particularly the vocals, bass, and drums] which was definitely coming from the stage PA. It slowly gets better over the course of the show and is finally completely gone about 20 minutes into the recording (half way through track 5). I scrubbed 3 whistles and a couple of claps from this recording. It didn't need much TLC. Recorded, transferred (6/23/2012), tracked (9/19/2019), and mastered (12/11-18/2019), and posted (12/19/2019) by Scott Bernstein Taper notes: 201 entries into my BARN archival series, I finally bring you an incredible reggae recording from my archives -- I present the mesmirising (and still living/performing) authentic original roots reggae artist, Burning Spear (original name: Winston Rodney). This is not some modern interpretation of reggae, but the real deal thing as he's been doing it since 1969 -- keeping it with some touches of psychedelia and just guitar, saxophone, bass, drums, and percussion -- keeping it simple and performing only his original music. I am a big fan of Burning Spear and have seen this band a ton over the years. Here's one of those shows. Unfortunately the sound mix was somewhat distorted for the first few songs (sorry, there is no fix for that) -- so you might want to skip to track 6 if it bothers you... Enjoy!
