Comment

Lorin Maazel (Music Director from 2002 to 2009) leads the New York Philharmonic in a 2004 performance of The Forgotten Offerings, an early work by Messiaen, after which Maxim Vengerov joins in as soloist for the sublime and lyrical Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in E Minor. After the intermission, Maazel returns to conduct a performance of Beethoven's powerful, often dancelike Symphony No. 7 in A Major.
