Notes: Notes from lurid_uk: This concert at Cambridge University was one of the earlier shows on the UK "Transformer" tour (although Transformer had not yet been released). The set list here is longer than most other shows of that tour, but is almost identical to that played the following evening at Leicester University (the only difference being the addition of "Head Held High" at Leicester). Apparently the show was so well received that another date at the same venue was quickly arranged for 31st October. To the best of my knowledge, this version of "Ocean" is the only available recording of Lou playing that song in concert after he left the Velvet Underground. This recording was generally unknown until August 2024, when its existence became apparent during discussions at the Facebook Lou Reed Collector's Group. Hugo then very kindly agreed to share his master recordings. He also recorded the later show at the same venue on 31st October 1972, but sadly most of that recording has been lost. Thank you Hugo! RIP Lou Additional notes from lurid_uk for 10-31-72: At the time, Hugo recorded the entire show, but sadly the 1st cassette has been lost. This small segment represents the final song/encore. When I looked at the raw captures from the cassettes, I could see that the left channel was at a much higher level than the right, and was better quality. So I duplicated the left channel and used 2 left channels to create a 2 channel file. The original recording was in mono, so nothing was lost. Be aware that there is virtually no high-end on this recording - pretty well nothing above ~ 6Khz. On the positive side, that means there is no hiss! But the vocals and instruments are all pretty clear.
