Notes: No real issues. Crowd was pretty decent around me. They must have been in awe of The Machines of God! Show notes: I didn't know what to expect when there was word that Billy Corgan was going on tour with a band called The Machines of God. Was it going to be the Pumpkins in full Machina costumes? Was it a different band? What's going on? I was super excited when details started to emerge that it would more of a celebration of the 30th anniversary of Mellon Collie, the 25th anniversary of Machina and also some new songs peppered into the setlist. SIGN ME UP! When folks ask me how the show was I say "It was the best Smashing Pumpkins show even though most of the Pumpkins weren't at the show." The setlist is a fan's dream...rarities, hits, good sample everything between rockers, jams and softer tunes. But the icing on the cake was when Melissa Auf Der Mar showed up to play The Everlasting Gaze. Come on. Are you kidding me? It was definitely a celebration of everything I love about the band and I will be the first in line if Billy continues on these side quests of the Smashing Pumpkins. The band seemed to be having a great time...who knows...maybe he'll convince the Pumpkins that a small theatre tour is a fun ride. Sidenote: Theatre Beanfield (aka the Corona Theatre)...you've gained a fan. What a great venue. Loved the slanted floor from the stage! Not a bad view in the house.
