Notes: The recording is from the Tommy Stevenson collection. Special thanks to his son, Thomas, for locating the surviving masters and loaning them out for transfer. Transferred by Richard Russell, March 2026. It's not known if this is the early or late show. Earl King opened. Presumably his set and the beginning of B.B. King's are on the tape labeled #1 (of 1980), but as of March 2026 that master has not been found and likely no longer exists. The remainder of this tape was recordings of performances by L'il Queenie and by Clyde Kerr Jr. the next day at Jazzfest. This cassette, like all of the (cheap) Scotch Dynarange tapes that Stevenson unfortunately used circa 1979-80, had significantly deteriorated. The tape shell had to be physically broken apart to extract the tape to be moved to a replacement shell. While the tape itself showed no signs of sticky-shed syndrome, it was visibly in bad shape. Sound quality suffers somewhat as a result.
