| Notes: | This is the official 2004 2DVD release by RCA/BMG, listed only for historical purposes. Go buy this. I would consider this the last of Elvis' adult-era trilogy starting with the 1968 Singer "Comeback" Special, his brilliant 1969 debut on the Las Vegas stage (of which no professional film footage exists courtesy of the Colonel) and this innovative (at the time, which credit should go to the Colonel) world-wide TV performance in Hawaii. Everyone knows the backstory, now, with Elvis wanting to perform on a world tour but the Colonel (hiding his fraudulent immigration status) deciding on this show to go on satellite tour. Elvis is trim and never looked better. This is the Elvis' finest hour in his final jumpsuit era. Within a couple weeks, the Colonel would have Elvis back at the Hilton Las Vegas and Elvis was so bored, so uninspired, so paranoid, abusing so many medications that he would have no fewer than three near-death overdoses in 1973. | |||||
