04/11/69 University Auditorium, U. of Az. Tucson AZ 1 one-disc highlight (with Doin That Rag from 4-12). Tantalizing glimpse, missing all but last 9 minutes of Other One and cut in St Stephen. Still, Lovelight & Dark Star are complete
04/12/69 Student Union Ballroom, University of Utah Salt Lake City UT ********** 1 Like 4-11, only a portion known to exist. Circulating versions of both of these contain one or two additional incomplete songs (like a 2-minute piece of Cryptical, or a one-minute piece of Top of the World).
04/22/69 The Ark Boston MA 2
06/07/69 Fillmore West San Francisco CA CDR 1 This is a one-CD reduction of what's in circulation, omitting a couple acoustic numbers. Nice Dark Star>ST Stephen, and of course Janis outsings Pigpen on Lovelight, which is the whole reason for hearing it.
07/07/69 Piedmont Park Atlanta GA 2 haven't heard this one all thru yet, but it sounds great

05/03/72 Olympia Theater Paris France 3 contributed E72's China>Rider

06/16/74 Des Moines State Fair Grandstand Des Moines IA 4
06/18/74 Freedom Hall Louisville KY 2 as circulated, the first three songs are really badly mixed. Omitting them allows the remainder to fit on two discs, so that's what I did. A stellar show.

06/09/77 Winterland Arena San Francisco CA 3 This is the version available from GDLive, retracked so that the indexes actually correspond to the beginning of each song. A tremendous show!
01/06/78 Swing Auditorium San Bernardino CA 1 second set, preceded by LLightnin from set one & Cassidy from 1-07
01/08/78 Golden Hall, Community Concourse San Diego CA 2 best/most mix; includes some 1-07 tracks
04/16/78 Huntington Civic Center Huntington WV 2 not yet auditioned

06/25/78 Autzen Stadium, University Of Oregon Eugene OR 2 Sounds like the band could explode right off the disc in set two
11/24/78 Capitol Theatre Passaic NJ 3 includes mid-show interview. My favorite 'Egypt' show
01/10/79 Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum Uniondale NY 1 highlights: Shakedown, Dark Star, St Stephen etc
01/20/79 Shea's Buffalo Theater Buffalo NY 2 reduced to fit two discs. m: All Over Now, Jack-a-roe. Excellent aud, where you can hear someone in the audience begging Bobby not to play 'Estimated' ('No, not that! Anything but that!')

12/04/79 Uptown Theatre Chicago IL 3
12/07/79 Indiana Convention Center Indianapolis IN 2 excellent AUD
12/31/79 Oakland Auditorium Arena Oakland CA 3 I can really only recommend the first set, but it's a scorcher!!
04/01/80 Capitol Theater Passaic NJ 2 Probably hte most fun you can have with your clothes on. Of course, this is the show where they switch instruments for the opening song, then switch back & do it proper. A barn-burner from front to back!
05/08/80 Glens Falls Civic Center Glens Falls NY 2
05/12/80 Boston Garden Boston MA 2 Not a great show, yet it has truly great moments -- first & last songs from set one, and all of set two thru Drums. These could make a great highlight disc.
08/17/80 Kansas City Municipal Auditorium Kansas City MO 2
08/31/80 Capital Centre Landover MD 3
09/04/80 Providence Civic Center Providence RI 2
09/06/80 State Fairgrounds Lewiston ME 3 A long, full, beautiful show!
09/25/80 Warfield Theater San Francisco CA 1 acoustic set SBD. Slightly brittle sound. Also a bit fast, I think; I may have to revamp this.
10/10/80 Warfield Theater San Francisco CA 1 acoustic set. Includes highlights from 10/09 acoustic set as filler [Grade B+, for being more hissy]
10/11/80 Warfield Theater San Francisco CA 2 most; everything up to Drums in set 3. Fairly sterile SBD. Possible noise reduction.
10/13/80 Warfield Theater San Francisco CA 1 Source Detail acoustic set. Mix rather unkind to drums & bass. Jerry's guitar very fat-sounding :-)
10/18/80 Saenger Performing Arts Center New Orleans LA 1 AUD. Highlights disc, all from electric set except Heaven Help the Fool, which is REALLY something to hear!
11/29/80 Alligator Alley Gymnasium, University Of Florida Gainesville FL 3 Source Detail Jim Wise AUD
11/30/80 Fox Theater Atlanta GA 3 a fine SBD
12/06/80 Mill Valley Recreation Center Mill Valley CA 1 acoustic SBD
03/05/81 Stanley Theater Pittsburgh PA 3 another fine AUD
03/09/81 Madison Square Garden New York NY 2 not as strong a show as the following night, I cut my version down to two discs
03/10/81 Madison Square Garden New York NY 3 Here's the stuff -- great sound, tight band, cool jams. Probably the best-sounding AUD on my shelf!
05/01/81 Hampton Coliseum Hampton VA 3 Another great FOB AUD. If all shows sounded like this, we wouldn't need recommendations.
05/12/81 Veterans Memorial Coliseum New Haven CT 3 Bobby: "This one's for Marley". A fairly flat SBD
05/16/81 Barton Hall, Cornell University Ithaca NY 0 A good AUD, this makes a nice contrast to the SBDs of the similar 5-12 or 5-06 shows. Is this better? Well, it *is* Cornell :-)
07/10/81 St. Paul Civic Center St. Paul MN 3 A very interesting show: the post-Space is practically a set in itself. One of those strangely intense-but-mellow shows they sometimes did in the early 80s.
08/27/81 Long Beach Arena Long Beach CA 2 Source Detail another beautiful AUD
08/28/81 Long Beach Arena Long Beach CA 3 SBD w/ AUD patches
09/12/81 Greek Theatre, University Of California Berkeley CA 3 Source Detail This is the show of the run.
09/13/81 Greek Theatre, University Of California Berkeley CA 3 Source Detail see 9-11-81
09/26/81 Community War Memorial Auditorium Buffalo NY 2 another fine '81 AUD. At some point, you find yourself thinking 'goddamn, I love this band'; this is one of those shows.
10/16/81 Club Melk Weg Amsterdam Netherlands 2 -- And so is this one: Bobby's birthday in a small Dutch club, half acoustic, half electric. This is the SBD version with some AUD patches
04/18/82 Hartford Civic Center Hartford CT 3 AUD. Phil recreates the 1907 SF Earthquake for the good people of Connecticut. Sure, why not.
05/21/82 Greek Theatre, University Of California Berkeley CA 2 Source Detail
05/22/82 Greek Theatre, University Of California Berkeley CA 3 Source Detail
05/23/82 Greek Theatre, University Of California Berkeley CA 3 this is the popular show from this run, but all are quite good. Recommended for those who think 1982 isn't quite so good, or haven't heard early '82
07/27/82 Red Rocks Amphitheatre Morrison CO 0 FOB AUD, baby! At Red Rocks! This is what makes trading worthwhile. Some sloppiness, but they get it going alright!
07/28/82 Red Rocks Amphitheatre Morrison CO 3 FOB AUD
07/28/82 Red Rocks Amphitheatre Morrison CO 3 FOB AUD
07/31/82 Manor Downs Austin TX 3 The mixed blessings begin: Jerry seems too high to remember the words to 'Scarlet', plays a divine jam, then can't seem to grasp the 'Fire' & 'Estimated' riffs. By 'Eyes', all is forgiven, and we never look back as we leave the ground :-)
08/06/82 St. Paul Civic Center St. Paul MN 3 not yet auditioned -- I didn't even know i had this!
08/07/82 Alpine Valley Music Theatre East Troy WI 2 Phil low in mix, ometimes inaudible. But this is the kind of show worth seeking: Jerry seems to be in a 1973 mood, and so we get a mostly gentle & hypnotic show, where even the Drums & Space sequences are definite keepers!
09/17/82 Cumberland County Civic Center Portland ME 2 Not yet auditioned -- new arrival
09/21/82 Madison Square Garden New York NY 3 After the surprise start, they never really reach the same heights again. Still, it's a solid show. Touch still has early lyrics.
09/24/82 Carrier Dome, Syracuse University Syracuse NY 3 A lot of good things here -- I get the sense they aren't trying to do anything cute (like 9-21's opener); instead, they know what they do well & do it. Throwing Stones works well in a pre-drum slot, and the PITB reprise keeps popping up. Truckin has a lyric variation. Most importantly, the band ROCKS & makes sure Syracuse know it. A great late '82 show :-)
10/09/82 Frost Amphitheatre Palo Alto CA 3
10/10/82 Frost Amphitheatre Palo Alto CA 3 Source Detail This is a pretty impressive SBD, with both unique & powerful performances. I would love an AUD version
12/31/82 Oakland Auditorium Oakland CA 3 Believe it or not, these three sets can fit on 2 discs. Notable for Etta James sitting in for Pigpen on the third set.
04/15/83 Community War Memorial Auditorium Rochester NY 2 set 2 (m:drums), recorded from FM broadcast. Not a great show, but a mighty interesting one.
04/16/83 Meadowlands Arena East Rutherford NJ CDR 1 Set 2 only. Guest Stephen Stills steals the spotlight. With a slight edit in Drums, I fit set two on one disc.
04/17/83 Meadowlands Arena East Rutherford NJ CDR 3 Source Detail A middle-distance AUD, and a marvelous show. Guest Stephen Stills again.
05/13/83 Greek Theatre, University Of California Berkeley CA 3 AUD
08/27/83 Seattle Center Coliseum Seattle WA 2 encore concludes disc one.
10/21/83 The Centrum Worcester MA 3 Good first set; strong jamming in the pre-drums. Space hints at 'Sage & Spirit'. Truckin has a lyric variation.
04/16/84 Community War Memorial Auditorium Rochester NY 2
04/21/84 Philadelphia Civic Center Philadelphia PA 3 a decent AUD finds the band deep in 1984 space -- a little murky, but sometimes sublime.
04/27/84 Providence Civic Center Providence RI 2
06/29/84 Blossom Music Center Cuyahoga Falls OH 0
07/15/84 Greek Theatre, U. Of California Berkeley CA 0 AUD. lots of Bobby's guitar. IMO, vastly preferable to *no* guitar, which is the SBD mix. Great version of 'China Doll'; excellent first set
10/12/84 Augusta Civic Center Augusta ME 3 OADE
11/02/84 Berkeley Community Theater Berkeley CA 3 very clean SBD. Often regarded as best 1984 show. SPACE of the gods
12/31/84 San Francisco Civic Auditorium San Francisco CA 3 Not for trade. But man, did I sweat over converting this from cassettes!
03/25/85 Springfield Civic Center Springfield MA 3 haven't heard this yet

06/28/85 Hershey Park Stadium Hershey PA 2 Surprising first set, solid second
09/03/85 Starlight Theater Kansas City MO 2 Source Detail OADE
11/01/85 Richmond Coliseum Richmond VA 3 OADE. This was my intro to the wonderful Oade AUDs; brings to life the show that made DP-21
11/21/85 Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center Oakland CA 2
12/31/85 Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Oakland CA 1 I was assigned to tape this while my friends actually went. Set one is well worth hearing, so I converted it to disc (plus the first 3 set 2 songs). One of my Top Five first sets from the 80s. Lineage: FM>MC>CD
02/11/86 Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center Oakland CA 2 A solidly good show, and a very good time (although Jerry does rather mangle 'Might As Well')
04/21/86 Berkeley Community Theater Berkeley CA 1 Second set. Brent's bad day became a singular performance. A good keyboard/drums jam like we wouldn't hear again til Bruce joined.
12/15/86 Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Oakland CA 2 You almost HAVE TO hear this one -- The Return of Jerry Garcia. But it ain't a really great show so much as a solidly good one that we were sure glad to hear happening. Missing Good Lovin to fit on two discs.
12/30/86 Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center Oakland CA 2 Another good, not great, show. Misiing Drums, and I guess Space; Drums cuts, and Iko-Iko is the next song.
07/02/87 Silver Stadium Rochester NY 1 first set only.
11/15/87 Long Beach Arena Long Beach CA 1 pre-drums only, converted from cassette. One of few 1987 Scarlet>Fires, and it's a hot one!
06/25/88 Buckeye Lake Music Center Hebron OH 2 This one has some problems: there are some digital anomalies in set one. Set two has its own disc (besides Pocky Way, on disc one); you might want only that.
07/02/88 Oxford Plains Speedway Oxford ME 3
07/03/88 Oxford Plains Speedway Oxford ME 2 recorded from FM broadcast -- look elsewhere for a better copy. But there are some amazing second-set performances here; not to be passed up!
07/15/88 Greek Theatre, U. Of California Berkeley CA 3 I know it's not cool to like 1988, but this is the stuff: a full menu of funk, blues, jams, and ballads, all arranged into a strong show. Clearly, this is the best show of the run.
07/16/88 Greek Theatre, U. Of California Berkeley CA 2 Overshadowed by 7/15 & 7/17, 7/16 still has its prizes: Bird Song, Music>Sugaree, and a strong Terrapin
07/17/88 Greek Theatre, U. Of California Berkeley CA 2 Strong points include the Foolish Heart opener, a stunning Candyman, and a solid second set including a fine 'Believe it or Not' in the 'Jerry ballad slot'. A fine conclusion to a fine run.
12/28/88 Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Oakland CA 2
02/10/89 Great Western LA Forum Inglewood CA 2
04/28/89 Irvine Meadows Irvine CA 2
05/07/89 Frost Amphitheatre Palo Alto CA 2
10/08/89 Hampton Coliseum Hampton VA 0 Help>Slip breakout
10/09/89 Hampton Coliseum Hampton VA 2 second set - the return of Dark Star
10/16/89 Meadowlands Arena East Rutherford NJ 1 second set
12/06/89 Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Oakland CA 1 second set, with Clarence Clemons
12/27/89 Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum Oakland CA 3 fine AUD, w/ Clarence Clemons & Olatunji
03/29/90 Nassau Coliseum Uniondale NY 3 Branford Marsalis jons for Bird Song, then all of set two. 'Eyes' used on Without a Net.
06/17/91 Giants Stadium East Rutherford NJ 3 Eyes opener, Dark Star teases. A great show.
09/10/91 Madison Square Garden New York NY 3 Branford Marsalis must have decided that one set wasn't enough; this time, he joins for the whole show.
09/20/91 Boston Garden Boston MA 2 These shows, taken as a whole, add up to a pretty satisfying run -- a five-night prelude to the finale.
09/21/91 Boston Garden Boston MA 3 Dismissed as the 'weak night' in the Compendium, this show reveals subtle charms
09/22/91 Boston Garden Boston MA 2 Another very good, not great night -- until they pound out the Stella>SugarMag ending, one of the best I've heard.
09/24/91 Boston Garden Boston MA 3 Many people's second-favorite of this week (after 9/26, of course), it boasts a solidly entertaining first set -- best of the run. The second set, though, flags on Bobby's songs, although soaring on Jerry's.
09/26/91 Boston Garden Boston MA 3 One of those instances where you wonder why the night before was chosen for DP status. Well, 9-25 has a good flow going for it, and deserves to be heard too. But this is the sort of set most people are craving :-) Also available in AUD recording from cassette [set two only]
06/23/93 Deer Creek Music Center Noblesville IN 1 set one, plus post-drums of 6-22. Quality AUD recording. A fine single-disc introduction to 1993 & the later material.

10/01/94 Boston Garden Boston MA 3 Another amazing, heartwarming show. Yes, there are times when Jerry slips, but it's great to hear him fly like this. Highly recommended.
10/03/94 Boston Garden Boston MA 2 What, 10-01-94 wasn't enough for you? Good, cuz there's more: this fine AUD gives us perspective from the crowd, with several fine performances.
10/14/94 Madison Square Garden New York NY 3 Still not satisfied after the two Boston '94s? Good, because the best is yet to come -- right here! Scarlet>Fire of the gods and more :-)
03/23/95 Charlotte Coliseum Charlotte NC 3 No, it isn't great, but is very good most of the time. Hornsby guests.
06/25/95 Robert F. Kennedy Stadium Washington DC 2 After a fine Shakedown, the band coasts until set two. After a couple of rain songs, though, things really start happening. Hornsby's presence may be the cause, but Jerry steps up as well.

02/10/01 The Fillmore Auditorum Denver CO 3 Jimmy Herring sits in for first set. This show sold me on P&F; no other has really equalled it.
12/31/01 Henry J Kaiser Convention Center Oakland CA 3 Of course, the third set included Bob Weir in the 'Crusader Rabbit Stealth Band'. I get this whole show on three discs instead of four by omitting the 'guest jam' that didn't involve Phil.
