approx 3:30 into Jack Straw, my copy has a high pitched howl in the background, for the rest of the song.

From my listening to d2t6 now, I hear an undefined background "whoosh"
starting ~3:32 and gathering into the high-pitched wavering squeak at 3:55, which then wanders up out of my hearing around 4:12.
Greg's (older BTW) ears only hear it all as an overall pitch change at 3:55,
but I certainly don't hear any diff in the music itself. So, 3 people have 3 different perceptions, which is interesting.

Greg thinks he remembers this kind of flaw from his reel-owning days (improper movement of tape across capstans?), so perhaps it's from one of the tape gens...

The year for the MD5 for disk 3, track 7 must be changed to '72 (*gd74-09-24d3t07.shn) before it will verify.

Any chance Charlie's gonna work his magic for this date? Of all the shows in the famed late September run, 9/24's the muddiest and in most need of an upgrade.

Spectral analysis reveals at least one additional analog generation in the lineage. There is also a narrow band of noise at 15970 Hz. I'm currently working on fixing this using a notch filter.

Hey, if he could make it sound better, zei gezunt. It could use an upgrade. Though a Cribbs/Miller collaboration would be good too.

I don't usually use noise reduction, but considering what we have to deal with, the results weren't all bad. You'll soon be able to judge for yourself. If you don't like it, I guess it'll just be one more sleepless night for me.
