Notes:
Before you read any further, let me tell you what motivated me to share this recording from my archive-for the first time, anywhere: Richie Hayward, one of rock's great drummers, has been diagnosed with liver cancer. Like 40+ million other Americans, he is uninsured. Richie and his wife will need outside help to cover his impending major medical bills. See this website for more:

That said, let's get to this recording. It has never been circulated anywhere so this may bring some joy to the Feat heads out there. Sandwiched between Leon Russell and the Neville Brothers, Little Feat took the stage on a balmy July night, ten years ago, at the shore of the Hudson river. I sadly had only two MD's with me and I saved one for the Nevilles (which I may post in the future if there is enough interest). Thus, this recording fades out during Richie's drum solo, though I recall that this was close to the end of their set. But my memory ain't perfect. The Feats database didn't have setlist for this show, so I was unable to confirm how many tunes they actually played, as well as the names of some tunes. Help with missing song titles is appreciated. Nonetheless, 74 minutes of Little Feat!
This show marked my first time seeing the Feats live--after having resisted seeing the reunited line-up for over a decade. Once I got past the fact that Lowell George's absence is simply an integral presence, I found that the band--well-oiled after a quarter century together--rocked beautifully and totally delivered the goods. Shaun Murphy can belt with the best of 'em, and as for the rest of the band, there isn't much to say that hasn't been said before. Seeing one of my favorite drummers, keyboardists, and bass players, live on the same stage was a pure treat. And, hey, Fred Tackett even plays nice trumpet, too.
Please donate to Richie's fund and consider the benefits of real health care reform and perhaps bugger your representative about it. If Richie were Canadian or British or Dutch or German or any number of other nationalities, his medical bills would be a non-issue. The richest country on earth can't get its people decent, affordable health care!? Remember, twelve men got to walk on the moon on taxpayer money. Now if THAT's possible...
OK. Enough bitching from me.
Enjoy the music, share it, but don't sell it.
And, if you feel so moved, donate to help Richie Hayward.
