Notes:
*Featuring Miles Tackett, son of Little Feat guitarist Fred Tackett.
-Encores (Willin' & This Land Is Your Land) missing from tape.
-I transfered this to wav from my 1st generation cassettes I have had since late 1998 ~ AZ Jones.
Featroller note: thanks to AZ Jones for recording and uploading at dimeadozen.org. An intimate benefit show
in Fred's Topanga neighborhood, this is a gem. For fans of Under the Radar (1997), it doesn't get much better.
From rare numbers like the ultra-funky Hoy Hoy and Shaun's gorgeous Vale of Tears, to better-known selections
like the great Callin' The Children Home and Billy's title track, UTR shines. The entire setlist is full of
rarities ~ Shaun says they made a point of digging out unusual songs for the occasion. How about Walkin' All
Night, full-band acoustic?! One of its rare appearances between the 70s and 2010, when it was thankfully
revived. There's a lot of acoustic throughout, especially by Fred, on tunes like Voices on the Wind. And Fred's
son Miles guests on vocals and guitar (I think) for On Your Way Down and the Meters' Just Kissed My Baby. Add
a homey Topanga Canyon vibe and this is a unique show.
The sound has very minor hiss ~ I was listening for it and it barely bothered me at all. More unfortunately,
the encores are missing. To cap off this show with This Land Is Your Land would be fantastic beyond words,
even for me. But it's still an easy must-have.
