This is either an aud source, or the most audience noise ever to intrude on a sbd. Numerous flaws in Touch (line noise).

This was during Healy's Matrix era- could that be a possibility?

BTW I have to add Healy's 5/3/87 response to an interviewer's question about having "audience noise" in the Matrix mix: "...'Noise'?!!" ;)

These are his matrix sbds. All the 87 matrix sounded like these.

Exactly - These are ALL from Dan Healy's SBD / AUD "Matrix" mixes. The "noise" you refer to is called "ambience". Instead of having a sterile sounding SBD (which do sound good), Healy had mic's around the soundboard to pick up that sound to give the recording more "feel" or simply more real. Its like you are there at the Greek when you go back and listen. Ultimately, that is the idea. Re-creating that feeling of being there - right ? Honestly, I prefer these "Matrix" recordings and do seek them out because of their liveliness and I would hardly call it "noise". More often than not, the mic's dont even pick up that annoying chatter/coughing and "Rock me Jeeer-ray"'s .
Good ex. are the 5-3-87 Frost or the 5-6 & 7-89 Frost shows !!

Thanks to all for the informative responses; I wondered if this might be a Matrix but the quality didn't seem up to par. My mistake. 8X (It would be nice to have that little "Matrix" indication in the info file though, to avoid this sort of confusion.)
