Sorry to report that there is a problem on the master copy of this show during the first 3 mins of Down with Disease (d2t1). I've made a fix of this track using a second FM source, which now makes it flawless. Here are the md5s for the fixed track that I will start circulating immediately.

I didn't hear any problem in the first 3 minutes of the track. What was it?

Blane, are you certain the flaw is during d2t01 (DWD), because I hear about 15 seconds of digi-noise starting at 3:10 of d3t01 (Also Sprach) instead.
Aside from that, this seed is such a pleasure to listen to it should be criminal.

Paul: There were big spots of static and dropouts on the track, which aren't there because I replaced the whole section with another FM patch, but it was a smooth one.
Daniel: You might have a slightly different FM source, because my copy contains no static on the 2001. Check the MD5s, and perhaps that's the issue.

Blaine and Daniel: Yes, I have checked the md5's and they do NOT match. Daniel, I think we have the same version. I guess I just assumed my copy was this version, since it was uploaded around the time this SHN came out. There is NO static on d2t01 (this is probably what Blaine used to patch) and there IS (hard to tell if digital or FM) static on d3t01 from 3:10-3:25.

The confusion may stem from the fact that I SHNed another FM copy of 8-17 before this one, but did not post it to etree since it was just a temporary version until I could get a flawless one. You may have that version. This one is better.

Paul and Blane - thanks for sorting the situtaion out, you are both correct. I've submitted the md5s and text file from the other FM source for adding it to the SHN Db. Hopefully that will help other who may run into this problem.
If a definitive source is in circulation yet? Anyone care to upload it to my server so the other FM seed can be destroyed? Thanks, daniel_shay@hotmaildotcom.

This fixed source, as of 12/27/02, had an SBE on the ph1997-08-17d2t01.fix.shn track. The first second of d1t01 has a patch of digi-noise. Both are simple fixes, and once completed, makes this the cleanest FM circulating.

A few words from the source:
The master DATs were clean on playback. Unfortunately, I seeded this to Blane prior to having shntool and mkwACT, and I hate working with CDWav. I may re-transfer this in pure shn in the future.
This was the first DAT recording of Phish I ever made. There were FM reception problems in 8.16 that didn't show up on the 8.17. I love this tape, excepting the breathing hard compression from the FM feed, which accounts for half of the listenablity of this but also kills the dynamics. The Kao DDS tapes really do hold up well over time.

For those of you who are confused like I was, this is the best version of the FM, NOT the 12/02 version!
